Update on Ruth's Health Minimize

January 31, 2012
Hi Readers,
I received my test schedule today while at the Clinic in Denver, CO.  For sure, I will not be "sitting around" while there.  Tests are scheduled one right after another each day, with a little time for lunch.  But each day, we will be done either around 2 or 3 p.m. depending on the test.

Some of you have been praying for Steve who has cancer in the lungs and liver.  They give him 1-2 years with treatment which he having.  Please continue to pray for him, also Pastor Jim Roberson who is now in therapy.

God bless all of you with good health, fill you with His wisdom to serve Him the best of your ability and give your heart full of His love to reach out to others.

January 20, 2012

Dear Readers,
Just got my appointment starting February 13.   I have to be there at 7 a.m.  All week from Tuesday to Thursday I will be having tests, seeing my doctor on Monday and then on that Friday.  This give us plenty of time to finish up my March/April issue of Gentle Doves and securing a hotel and making other arrangements.  We have someone who will watch the pets and house for us, so that's already scheduled.

I want to report that Pastor Jim Roberson is doing much better thanks to all the prayers that the Lord has heard and answered.  He now has a tough regiment of healing and still needs our prayers.  Thank you for listening to the Holy Spirit.

Blessings from above,

Dear friends,
I found out today that the Denver Lung clinic has received my records and it's not official yet, but I believe I'll be having the appointment the week of Feb. 12th.  In order to be there on the 12th, we'll have to leave Saturday, stay overnight and then arrive on Sunday.  I'm happy that it isn't sooner because now we can
take our time in planning the trip.

Please, as led by the Lord, pray for these people: Steve who has cancer in his lungs and liver; Pastor Jim Roberson who just had surgery, but isn't responding as they had hoped.  Pastor also has burning pain from his waist to his feet.
Lord, have mercy on these loved ones and their families.  They have served you, Lord, and need healing throughout their bodies.  We believe for them, Lord, give them peace that passes all understanding.  In our Lord's name, Amen.

Blessings from above,

Hi everyone,
I'm hearing more of you say that you're reading my updates.  Thanks.  And you're praying too.  I like that.

I finally am hearing from the National Jewish Health center (Denver, CO) were I am going to get a second opinion regarding my lung condition.  I am not getting any better with my breathing and notice I need oxygen if I take the tubing off and "run" upstairs for something.  Then I really get shortness of breath.

They have sent a large amount of papers telling me what is needed even before they give me an appointment.  I have to get all my records in order and tomorrow I will go to the clinic here in Red Wing, and connect with the records lady who has taken it upon herself to personally take care of my records and needs.  Isn't that nice of her?  Everyone at the hospital here is doing what is necesssary for me to get an appointment.  I so appreciate their willingness to go out of their way to help.

Please continue to pray for healing for me.  Last Sunday at fellowship, the group really got into praying for those who are sick.  Scripture tells us to cry out to the Lord and we did just that, literally.

Remember, the Lord is always with us.  He always hears us.  At times we may not think He does, but He is listening.  He is reaching out right now to touch you and bring you what you need at this moment.  Accept it and walk in the freedom He gives you.  Believe it.

December 30, 2011

Dear Readers,
The last day of this year.  May the Lord bless our efforts of last year.

I went to see my oncolgist today.  She asked me how I was doing.  I said my breathing seems to have gotten worse.  She's pretty sure I have what is known as pulmonary fibrosis.  A doctor in town just recently died from it.  There's not much one can do to correct it.  In my case, the radiation for breast cancer or chemotherapy may have started it.  Each case is different.

I have 2 death sentences.  Cancer and now this.  When I got to the car, I rebuked Satan and told him I only die when Jesus calls me home and not a second before!

Please pray that the Lord heals me through and through.  I have no pain whatsoever, praise His holy name.  We will be making an appointment with the National Jewish Health clinic in Denver, CO, as soon as I have my breathing test here in Red Wing, which is on the 4th of January.  This clinic is the best for lung diagnosis in the natiion if not the world.  My oncologist is very helpful as she is writing a letter to the hospital and will send my records.  She expressed wishes she could help me.  She's very sincere.  Please lift her up too.

Blessings to each of you in the New Year.

Dear Friends,
I mentioned some letters ago that my right knee was hurting so badly and I asked for prayer.  I want to thank you who prayed, and also those at our fellowship who laid hands on me for prayer.  It hasn't hurt since.  Glory to God for His healing.

Christmas is getting closer and closer.  If you haven't already, make a place in your heart for Jesus.  Take the time to talk with Him, letting Him know how much you love Him.  He'll respond with precious replys.

December 3, 2011
Dear Readers,

God's blessing to you all while preparing for the celebration of Christ's birth.  If you're getting stressful, sit down and relax some.  This is a time of Joy; sometimes stress replaces joy quickly.  Any little situation that isn't going well, can cause stress.  Talk with the Lord, He'll reach out and calm you with His perfect peace.

I went to see my oncologist yesterday.  Each time I go I ask if she has figured out yet what is causing my shortness of breath.  She mentioned that I may have Pulmonary fibrosis, a Interstitial disease.  Simply meaning that my lungs have scaring from my pulmonary embolisms that could be more serious.  However, weeks before I asked my pulmonalist if I could have Interstitial disease.  He said that it would have been sighted in the CT Scan, and it wasn't.  So my doctors are not on the same page.  Well, I'm not worried.  God knows what's going on inside my lungs.  And He will take care of it.

The Lord has done great things in my life, and I'm sure in yours.  Because I have no pain to speak of, I am able to continue serving Him.  I do, however, get very tired, so my husband helps me do the things I can't.  I pray you too have someone to help you serve the Lord.  Please let us pray for you if you need prayer.  Contact me at: Ruth Olson Ministries, 30090 Hay Crk. Trl., Red Wing, MN 55066.

I see my oncologist again the 30th of December.  I am hoping you will have a blessed Christmas with all the trimmings of your heart's desire.  Come closer to God and He will come closer to you.

Merry Christmas to you and yours,
ruth olsonn <><

11/26/11
Hi everyone,
We thank you all for remembering our 50th anniversary on Thanksgiving Day.  We had gone down to Branson, MO for the week and got home just in time to sit down on Thanksgiving with our children and friends.

God is so good.  I did very well while down in MO.  We got a tank of liquid O2 and put it in the back seat for Jerry to daily refill my personal tank.

Please pray for my right knee.  Some time ago I went to see a doctor about the pain and he said that I wouldn't see him again until I'm around 80 years old.  Well, I'm not that old yet and it's beginning to pain again.  Otherwise, I'm doing fine; still have the shortness of breath.  I will see my oncologist next Thursday.

Blessings from above while you plan your Christmas celebrating our Savior's birth.

Dear Readers,
Jerry and I went to the lung doctor today with questions and returned with not many answers.  My sleep test was normal.  So that is good.  The heart/lung/endurance test at the U. of MN we had to wait for via fax to the clinic because the computers blocked it.

When the doctor finally got the test results, he came to find us.  That test didn't show much of anything.  The written report simply reads that the heart, lung and endurance all have a part of my shortness of breath issues.  He explained that my heart with the hole and the stiffening has a part; the lung with its diffusion of 43% has a part; and the endurance level has a part.  I now am working a stationery bike 9 minutes daily, so that will help some.  He is going to schedule my 5th breathing test to check the diffusion and if it's lower than 43, he will order a C Scan, but won't now because that test emits a lot of radiation.

The doctor mentioned that my diabetes may have a part in my fatigue during the day.  I will talk with my oncologist about that.  I may have to go on Insulin.  Also, my anti-cancer pill can cause shortness of breath, so we will look at that.  I have an appointment with my oncologist on the 2nd of December.  (Can you believe it's almost Christmas already?)

After the breathing test, I will return to see the pulmonolgist in two months.

I believe the Lord is healing me.  I can "feel" it, although one doesn't have to feel anything to be healed.  I ponder on so many people all over this wide world lifting my health up to the Lord.  I am going to have a pastor husband of a reader of Gentle Doves at her suggestion, pray for me.  He has the gift of healing.  I will receive any prayer given on my behalf.  I will agree with the prayers believing the Lord to answer each one.

We are currently getting ready to travel on a short vacation (with someone watching our home), to celebrate our 50th anniversary which falls on Thanksgiving.  That's something to be thankful for, that's for sure.

Blessings to you, friends.  Accept that because Jesus wants you to receive the good and perfect things from His Father.  See I James 1:17.

Dear Friends,
I think now I'm finished with all the tests.  I had my sleep clinic test last night and I tell you without the Lord I wouldn't have gotten through it.  I see my pulmonologist on the 14th.  The last two tests I haven't goltten any results from so I'm hoping that he will have some good news.  I'll let you know as soon as I find out.

I want to remind you that the Lord knows everything that is happening to us.  His eye is always on us.  Keep remembering that.  You are not alone.  Not only people love you, but the Lord, who is love, loves you so much that it's not even realized.
Ask the Lord to let you in on how much He loves you.  He will show you, I know He will.

ruth olson <><

10/21/11
Dear Readers,
My test from the U. of MN hasn't returned to my doctor yet, so no news there.
My oncologist ordered a hormone test to see if any of my hormones are causing the shortness of breath.  This amounts to a 24 hr. urine test.  How exciting.

I think I've done every test possible now and hopefully this is the end to tests.  However, this coming Monday I see my pulmonalogist and it's any one's guess what next thing he'll have me do.

Please keep praying for the doctors to figure out this mystery.  I would love to go out and teach women once again, but the Lord has put a blockage on that idea since I can't get my breath while speaking.  In the meantime, I wait and
pray for those the Lord has given me to serve over seas.  I now am writing to a young man who lives and preaches the the gospel in his native country, Bermua.  He's never had any one to help him, not with money necessarily, but for encouragement to keep on keeping on.  God bless him.

May our Lord bless and keep you all in the faith.  Do not become weary in doing things commanded by our Lord.  He is our strength.

In Him, ruth olson <><
10/17/11
Dear friends,

Thank you all so much who were led to pray for my test at the U. of MN today.  My husband was able to come in with me and it took just under 1 hour and everything went very well.  I should know the results come this Friday when I see my Oncologist.

Blessings to you all,
ruth olson <><

10/11/11
Dear Readers,
I have now scheduled a test at the U. of MN.  If I make it through the length of the test, it will give results of my heart and lungs under stress, also my stamina.
If led, please pray for me on October 17th around 10 a.m.  I will see the plumonologist the following Monday for the results and will post them here.

In the meantime, the Lord continues to use me for His work and I am thankful for that. I continue to publish Gentle Doves every two months, and lately have been helping needy people overseas.  Please see Doves' Outreach link on Home page.
I have no pain unless I stand a long time and then my thighs go numb due to my back spur on spine.

I thank you all for your prayers.  I really can "feel" them and the Holy Spirit healing me.  Thank you so much.
In Jesus' love,
ruth olson <><

9/23/11
Hi again,
I went to see my oncologist yesterday and she has no idea what is causes my sob (Shortness of Breath).  Actually, no one seems to know.  I told her I still think it's the lung diffusion of a low 43% where normal is around 90-110 (I think).  She agreed, but there's nothing one can do about it.

The pulmunologist wants me to do two more tests.  I haven't scheduled them yet.
I asked the doctor yesterday if I have to be on O2 for the rest of my life and she thought I may have to.

The Lord knows my situation as He knows yours.  We must keep the faith in Him.  Even if we hear nothing about what He will do, He IS working on our behalf behind the scenes.

Glory be to God Almighty,
ruth olson

9/15/11
Dear Readers,
I went to my pulmonologist this week and he told me there were two tests he would like to do yet.  I will let you know when they come about so you can lift me up in prayer.

Next week I see my onocologist and I am going to ask her about my Adrenal gland.  One of them (located on my kidney) has a cyst on it.  I have found information on signs and symptoms of Adrenal Fatique.  We'll see if any of the symptoms which I seem to have, are affecting my shortness of breath.
We can only hope that soon the doctors will come up with something.

Thank you for your on-going prayers for me.

Dear Friends,
I'm having some discomfort in the area where the bone cancer originally began.  So I am taking pain pills to calm it down.  Any prayers are appreciated.
In Jesus,

P. S.   Check out the quote as of 9/8/11, it's quite good.

9/3/11
Hello everyone,
Things haven't changed much on this side.  I see the pulmonologist and my onocologist this month and if they have nothing new on my labored breathing, we might just go for a second opinion.  I'm still on oxygen 24/7, it helps a great deal and am thankful for it.  I am also thankful that the bone cancer is in remission and I have no pain.  My left arm was going numb and hurt, but since I've switch my O2 tank over to my right arm (or have my husband carry it), that numbness has almost disapeared.  I still have numbness in the side of my thighs when I stand a long time.  Other than all of the above, I'm doing great.  Even my diabetic readings are getting more normal.

Gary Wilkerson, son of the David Wilkerson who was recently killed in a car accident, is continuing his dad's work in sending out messages every two weeks.    The recent one I received is on "Good News For the Lukewarm", and how every Christian is to examine his heart for lukewarmness, and he gives some examples of it.  If you don't already get his free newsletter, contact www.worldchallenge.org or email them at contact@worldchallenge.org and asked for August 22, 2011 issue.  You may also write them at World Challenge, World Challenge. Inc., PO Box 260, Lindale, TX 75771.

Check yourself for this problem which comes between the Lord and you.  It matters a lot.  See how the Lord continues to pour out His love when we repent and yield to the Holy Spirit.

I thank you for remembering me and my husband in your on-going prayers.
Drop me a note to tell me how you are doing.

In Jesus never-ending love,
ruth olson <><

Dear Friends,
Please, if you haven't, read the last two messages (down) for update.  Some are thinking that since my stress test was negative, I don't have my hole in my heart anymore.  But the hole is still there.  You can pray that Lord "sews" it up so I don't have any chance of getting a stroke.

Thanks for stopping by.  Tell your friends to come to: www.gentledoves.org.

Dear Friends,
Read below...I got the stress test results already!  No problems; all looks good.
So what is causing my shortness of breath?  Only the Lord knows.

8/10/11
Hi readers,
I had my stress test today and to all you who prayed, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart.  Everything went perfectly.  I had my own doctor there, I had none of the expected side effects--no headache, no dizziness, no pounding of heart, no neck pain--nothing!  Praise the Lord God.  He heard my pleas and yours too.  He made it a non-event.  Besides that, He had cheerful staff by my side. I had discomfort in my legs, but I think it was due to lying on my back so long with two x-rays throughout the 3 hours at which time I couldn't move.

The Lord God Almighty is something else.  He takes us in His arms and "rocks" us, so to speak.  He loves us more than any good parent because He created us and knows everything about us.  He has a plan for our lives.  He wants to touch each of us with His love.

Please consider getting the Gentle Doves publication every 2 months.  On the home page you can read how to get it.  It's a 19 page booklet with lots of goodies in it.  You'll get 6 issues every year with any amount of donation.  You can even put others with your donation and we'll carry them for a year.  A year is from January through December.

I mentioned before that my left arm gets numb quite a bit.  Since my doctor was present at the stress test, I asked her about it.  It may be a pinched nerve, but not cancer.  I'm very thankful.  However, if it keeps up to September, I'm to get in touch with her and some tests can show what's going on.  Keep this in your prayers.

Love in Jesus,
ruth olson <><

7/29/11
Dear Friends,
I will have a stress test on Aug.10th.  We'll find out what if anything with my heart is causing my shortness of breath.  The test takes 3 hours and I'm to be there at 8 a.m.  You may be called by the Lord to pray for my left arm which is numb about every 2 hours for about 10 mins.  I have no idea what's causing it.
Love in Jesus,
ruth olson

Hi everyone,
My tooth problem was solved and I haven't had any swelling or pain.  Your
prayers were heard by the Lord Jesus.  Thank you so much.  Tomorrow I see the cardiologist for the first time and I'll be letting you prayers warriors know how it went.

Our dear friend and brother in Christ, Clem Finstad of Red Wing, MN,went home to be with his beloved Lord and Savior, Jesus, this morning at 8:30 a.m.  Please lift up his family, particularly his wife, Fran.  She needs strength and comfort to carry on.
Love in Jesus,

July 22, 2011

Hello everyone,
Thanks for dropping by.  I saw my oncologist the other day and all is well,  although my blood suger is sky high at over 300!  She is going to increase my diabetic medication.  Many don't respond to pills for diabetic treatment after a while, and the next thing, if this stronger dose doesn't work, will be insulin.  Could you pray that it won't come to that?

I went to have cleaning done on my teeth this week also.  I have an infection in one of my root canals at the bottom of the tooth.  Since this tooth has a post in it, my local dentist can't do the surgery, so off to a specialist in another city.  But, the interesting thing is that I have been having Zometa infusions every 4-6 weeks for a couple years.  This infusion given to many with bone cancer can be a great help.

However, if given too long, over time Zometa will affect a person's jaw bone, causing it to disintegratie with excruiating pain.  Please pray that this isn't happening; that the medication is not affecting my jaw bone.  It will be up to the dentist/surgeon who will either agree with my oncologist in whether or not I keep on the every 6 week infusion.  I have not been scheduled for oral surgery yet.

I received a note from a sweet lady named Sondra.  She writes,
"Dear Ruth, I 've been thinking about everything you have been dealing with over the years with your health, and I am so inspired by your response.  God has given you a beautiful grace to go through this and your faith is helping others see His faithfulness more clearly.  And now I entrust you to God and His care.  Acts 20:32.  In Christ, Love Sondra.  Minneapolis, MN."

I leave that verse with you readers.  Please look up that scripture, it will really bless you, and what's more it's for you!

My second cataract surgery went wonderfully!  Everything's coming up roses!  Thank you so much for your support and prayers.  The doctor was so nice and talked with us afterwards for about 1/2 hour.  The surgery is so fascinating.  During it I saw such beautiful colors.
Enough of all of that.  Who was with me, of course, was our Lord and Savior.  He is with YOU too!  Ask Him for a sign that you know without a doubt that He loves you and is with you.  He will do that for you; He has for me.
   Love in Jesus,

July 11, 2011

Dear Friends,
I saw my eye surgeon today and got the OK to have my right cataract removed this coming Weds. at 9:30 a.m.  My left eye is good and is healing.  I'm praising the Lord because I want to get this done so I can continue to move ahead in things the Lord wants me to do.  It's difficult when one can't see well.  It won't be long now.  This surgery is certainly of the Lord.  I encourage anyone who is considering this short operation, to be comfortable in having it done.

Thank you for praying for those who have cancer.  Dale, my cousin, doesn't have any pain and with his cancer of the brain and liver, this is a direct answer from the Lord.  Clem, our friend who is suffering from cancer of the bone and liver, joins us on Sundays at his nursing home in one of the larger rooms for our fellowship of prayer and praise.  May God help these two and the many more who we pray for with cancer on Mondays.

Soon I'll be seeing my oncologist again and then the cardiologist about my shortness of breath.

Father God, we thank you so much for your Holy Spirit who gives us strength and power from Jesus.  We ask you to help us serve you no matter in what condition we are in.  We receive your gentleness and compassion to reach out to others who are suffering so much, Lord.  Draw us to them so with your Spirit we can do help them by giving your gift of love.

Can we help you in any way?  Let us know.  Contact me at: jerryrutholson@msn.com

Blessings from our Father to you and your household,

July 2, 2100
Happy Fourth of July to everyone!  Our Lord and Savior has given us a wonderful country to live in.  Let's do our part to keep it for God, to serve Him in the way He wants, and to thank Him for our freedom.  May it never cease!

My right eye cataract surgery will be the 13th of July.  That's the birthday of our grandchild, Peter.  We'll be thinking of different things on that day, for sure.  In the meantime, Peter, have a wonderful and exciting birthday!

My appointment with a cardiologist is at 10:20 a.m. on the 29th of July.  For any prayers I will be grateful  We just want to find out what is causing my shortness of breath and being tired all the time.  When I go and do something on a particular day, the entire next day I have to sleep to recover from the activity.  My O2 treatment is going fine.  It helps a great deal.

Our little new puppy, Susie Q, is a direct gift from Father God.  She looks like the past dog we had and reminds us so much of Jetta.  Ask the Lord for what you desire and He will meet your need.  Maybe not today, nor tomorrow, but He will come through because He loves you so much!  He hasn't deserted you, not at all!  He hasn't forsaken you, not at all!  Stand fast, and let Him do His work.  Learn to trust Him.

Love to all my readers,
ruth olson

Dear Friends,
I've had my first cataract surgery this a.m.  Preparation for the surgery takes much more time than the actual surgery.  I never knew that you lie flat during surgery and I thought I'd be "out."  Not true.  They give you IV medication that relaxes you, and you are aware of what's happening.  I'm glad because the entire procedure was fastinating.  Some hours later, we saw the doctor for a follow
up appointment.  I can only see cloudiness in the eye, but should be doing better each day.  My other eye is in July two weeks from now.

Thanks for the prayers.  I sure do appreciate them.  After the appointment, we went to see our friend, Clem, who is suffering from cancer with a tumor in his lungs and bone cancer.  Please agree with us who are praying for that tumor in his lungs to shrink, as it is pushing against his esophagus and he can't eat any solids only fluids.  My cousin, Dale, I've asked you to pray for too, as he has cancer of the brain and liver.  He isn't tolerating chemotherapy that well.  I don't know who does, as far as that goes.  But, please keep him in your prayers.

Remember, I've written on my experience with cancer.  My Gift to You at $10.00.  Please consider it for a loved one or even yourself.  It helps in showing readers how to treat those with cancer.  It has many bible verses included to help you with your loved one.

God bless you all,
Ruth Olson <><

June 21, 2011

Hi to everyone,
I have seen both my oncologist June 18 and today my pulmonologist.  I have no new cancer and what is there is in remission.  Thank you Lord Jesus!  I have been hyperventilating for some weeks besides my shortness of breath, and she took a blood test that showed one of my medications, which she had increased, was causing this heavy breathing.  Within 3 days of being taken off of the medication, I no longer hyperventilate.  Glory to the Lord.  You can't believe how I was relieved to hear that.  I could not figure out why I would be anxious about anything.
Today with my lung doctor, we discussed my shortness of breath and my oxygen level.  So far he has found nothing to cause my shortness of breath.  The oxygen level is good when I am on oxygen, which I'm on 24/7.  Because of the hole between the atria of my heart, he will ask my onocologist to refer me to a cardiologist.
This Friday the 24th, I will have my left cataract remove.  Then the 13th of July, I will have the right one removed.  Any prayers are appreciated.  I am looking forward to the great results.

Here are some beautiful prayers on healing: Psalm 20, 1-5:

"May the Lord answer you when you are in distress; may the name        of God of Jacob protect you.  May he send you help from the sanctuary and grant you support from Zion.
May he remember all your sacrifices and accept your burnt offerings.  May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.
We will shout for joy when you are victorious and will lift up our banners in the name of our God.  May the Lord grant all your requests."

I pray that for all of you who are in desperate need and who need right now a sign of God's love for you.  He will grant it for His Son's sake.
   Blessings,
   Ruth Olson <><

June 12, 2011

Dear Friends,
I am seeing my Oncologist this coming Friday and my lung doctor next Tuesday.  I should have some news after these visits.  I'm mainly tired each day and during the day, I sleep a lot especially if I overdo it the day before.  By overdoing it, I mean by getting groceries or anything that takes my breath away.

I'm not in any pain and I thank the Lord for that.  Many write asking this.  While I am not comfortable at times, I think of those who are dealing with some serious illnesses.  Please lift up Pastor James Roberson and his wife, Linda, who both suffer from terrible back pain.  Pastor can't even stand now by himself as his legs give out.  He is our current Bible Study writer for Gentle Doves.  Please pray as led.  Also, we are lifting up Clem Finstad who is suffering from lung and bone cancer.  And my uncle, Dale Junge, who is also suffering from cancer.

May our Lord and Savior come with healing in His wings and relieve these dear people from their suffering.  Oh, Lord Jesus, come and lift up these loved ones and spread your wings of healing over them.  In your precious name, Amen.

Until next week, thank you for all your concerns and faithfulness to our Lord.  Please relay any needs you may have so we can lift you up to the Throne Room.

June 6, 2011
Well, friends, we'll have to wait until they reschedule me because my doctor couldn't make it today.  I thought I would have some news on my health and shortness of breath, but not yet.  You can keep on praying if you feel the prompting of the Lord.  I would certainly appreciate it.  Until I find out more, have a wonderful pre-summer.  It sure feels like summer has arrived here in MN.
already.  It's almost 100 degrees out.

Love in Jesus,

Dear Friends,
I have some wonderful news to share with you all.  Today I had a echocardiogram bubble and a bone scan.  Later this afternoon, my oncologist called me.  She told me some wonderful news.  There is not any NEW cancer and the cancer I have is very hard to see on the screen compared to when I was able to view the bone cancer at the start.  What I saw was many white "holes", but now they can hardly see those holes.  How good is that!?  Praise the Lord!  Thank you so much for praying; some of you are praying regularly for me and I just don't know how to repay you.  I give you all to the Lord, He will grant you your heart's desires.  I can't do anything better than that!

I also have some unusual news.  The heart test shows a hole in my heart.  My pulmonologist hasn't called me yet regarding the results, but my oncologist believes he will refer me to a heart specialist.  So more praying.  If the hole is large enough, well, they may do surgery, as he thinks a hole may be causing my diffusion problems and the shortness of breath.  I see my pulmonologist June 6 or maybe sooner.

God is faithful; He is healing you too.  I will keep you all updated.

Now I want to inform you of a very important prayer need.  A dear friend, Clem, who goes to our fellowship has just discovered that he has cancer in his lung, in both of his thighs and in one arm.  Please lift him up to the Throne Room, please.  He has received 3 chemotherapy treatments and is weak and needs to get his appetite back.

God bless you all with good health, strong faith in Him and continued dedication to the Lord God Almighty.

Love in Jesus,
ruth olson

Dear Friends,
I can't believe it's been a month since I've written to you readers regarding my health.  I have had the two scans and nothing in particular showed up, no scarring from previous lung clots, or anything else that would cause my shortness of breath.
The pulmonologist is scheduling 2 more tests a Bubble Echo-cardiogram, and PET, to see if I have a hole in my heart that would be causing the distressed breathing.  It won't change the treatment (O2 24/7, and Coumadin), but it will give us all satisfaction what is causing it.  I have no pain from the SOB.  However, I am getting bits of terrific pain in my groin where the bone cancer was discovered.  So I'm back on pain pills to give some relief.
In the current issue of Gentle Doves on the cover page is entitled, "Abiding in Christ--Are you Willing to Pay the Price?  What a challenge, not only to accept the Lord Jesus as your Savior, but to abide in Him forever.
The Message says in John 15:9, 10:  "I've loved you the way my Father has loved me.  Make yourselves at home in my love.  If you keep my commands, you'll remain intimately at home in my love.  That's what I've done--kept my Father's commands and made myself at home in His love."  -Jesus
Why not send for this issue of the magazine I put out every two months?  You'll find many interesting things included
in this issue and also you can read the piece on Abiding in Christ.
Thank you so much friends for all your prayers.  I so appreciate them and you.
God's richest blessings to all of you,
    Ruth Olson <><

Greetings to you readers,

I had my two lung rays today.  It wasn't a happy time, actually a first time that I have ever reacted from the dye with the CT Scan.  Honestly, it happened so quickly all I could do is sit up on the x-ray table and yell (not that loudly), "I'm going to throw up."  Oh my.  Was that tech helpful and soon after one more episode, I was fine.  Then I waited almost an hour for the other nuclear test and thankfully, I wasn't reactive to that dye, but I was very happy when it all was over.

Now I wait to see what the doctors say and I can tell you that it may take some time for that to happen, as my oncologist's appointment is first May 4 and the pulmonologist's appointment is at the end of May.
Maybe the Lord is giving me and you prayer warriors to pray for healing of my diffusion situation.  I'm currently on O2 full time and it's going slowly in making sure the equipment is full of O2 once we get to driving around.  But it's a learning experience and we'll become familar with it shortly.

Do you ever feel God has deserted you?  Mark 15: 34 records that Jesus cried out asking why the Father had deserted Him.  "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"  Jesus lived through this moment too, just like we do.  Father God had to turn his face from sin; and Jesus could feel that separation.  We feel it too when our conscience keeps poking us when we sin.  We feel all alone and it can be unbearable, until the Spirit of God comes on us and leads us to a godly repentance.

During this time of Lent, let us draw nearer to our Lord and ask Him to point out our sins by reading the scripture.  "For the word of God is living and active.  Sparper than any double-edge sword, it penetrates even to diving soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart."  Hebrews 4:12  "Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts."  Hebrews 4:7.

Peace to you during this wonderful time of Lent where we prepare ourselves for the resurrection of not only our Jesus, but also ourselves.
In Him we live and move and have our being,
Ruth Olson <><

Dear Friends,
Today I was able to see the pulmonologist, the doctor I was waiting to see for 5 weeks.  Thank you to those who were praying for me to get in to see him sooner.  It didn't turn out that way, but the Lord kept my heart quiet and the time went by fairly quickly.
I don't know exactly what my condition is called, but it does have to do strickly with the diffusion, i.e. the ability of my lungs to transfer O2 into my blood and tissues.  Because I have had in the past 2-3 pulmonary embolisms, it is in these areas where the clots occured my lungs can't diffuse O2.  I will have two tests done soon to see where the problem is in the lungs and the other test to see exactly where it is occuring.
The treatment is Coumadin which I've been on for over 25 years, and also continuous O2.  The Doctor told me I made it just in time as my heart as of yet hasn't been damaged due to the lack of O2.  The dear Lord saw to that as I was moved to get my regular doctor to order a breathing test, and then I prompted her to order this visit today with the pulmonologist.  All glory to the Lord and many thanks for your prayers.
Now what is needed is to pray that the Lord would heal me of the bone cancer, the back spur, the diabetes, and this lung problem.  Is He capable?  Yes, beyond all expectations!  He can do it.  Why hasn't He?  He has a purpose for all our trials and needs.  He answers our prayers when it's time.  His time.  And, He's always on time.
I don't doubt Him.  I can still do what He has called me to do.  I have no pain and I have a blessed husband who helps me every step of the way.  And God has appointed many prayer warriors to lift me up in prayer as led by the Holy Spirit.
   So, I'm very contented.
"I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the Lord has done."  Psalm 118:17

Hi again,

This is a continuation of 2/22/11.  I now have an appointment with a pulmonologist from the U.of MN who comes to our clinic here in Red Wing 4 days a month.  I will see him April 4.  Could you pray that I could get in sooner?  Thank you.

Also, please see on our Cover Page which is the "Home" link on the left side bar, number 1, to see the cover of my first book now written in the lanuage of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia by Kassahun Ayele.  Please praise the Lord with me that many will be reading the book in this language.  Kassahun has asked me for permission to copy each of my books.  I'm thrilled to give it to him.  Those books are in the Lord's hands.  May He used them for His glory and His alone.  Thank you Jesus.

2/22/11

 Dear Friends,

As you may already know I have problems with shortness of breath.  My oncologist has tested me many ways, and yet we find everything normal until today.  She ordered a breathing test, which I found out, this one was my 5th test since we've moved here to Red Wing.  I have had this problem for quite some time.

What was found out on the test is that I take in plenty of O2 and get rid of carbon dioxide normally, but the problem is diffusion.  My lungs can't get the O2 into my body.  As a result, my diffusion level is 43, whereas it should be at a level 90-120.  This is why I sleep so much during the day, even after having a decent night's sleep. My diffusion level has gone from 60 in the first test, 50 thereafter in other tests, and now 43.  I knew it wasn't getting any better.  I can walk so much better with my now in-house O2.  So I'm very thankful for that.

Please include in your prayers my situation, that the doctors will know what to do to help the situation.

I want to ask you a question.  When we get to the BEMA Throne of Christ, (See Romans 14:10 and 2 Corinthians 510) did you ever wonder what may be asked of you by the Lord Jesus?  Remember the Throne of Christ has nothing to do with our salvation.  That's the reason we are standing there in the first place, because we've been saved.  But according to 2 Corinthians 5:10, we will receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.

I can't recall where I read this, and it may not be the case at all, but perhaps the Holy Spirit will quicken it to us as we abide in Christ these days on earth.  This person stated that we may be judged by our wealth, our words, and our works.  In other words these three words that start with the letter "w" may help us remember what has been given to us by the Lord and to help us used them properly.

What have we done in reference to these words?  Examine yourself and if you are failing, ask the Lord to help you in these areas, not so much as you MUST do them, but if you do them from the heart of Christ.  That seems to me what He is watching for.

Thank you for all your prayers and comments.  Two people out-of-town, particularly, constantly encourage me that I will not get sicker and will be healed because there is much that we all need to do yet.  I so want to continue speaking and ministering in the Holy Spirit, but until I get this breathing under control, there doesn't seem much ahead for me.  BUT, my heart's desires are of the Lord as yours are.  It will come about as the Lord moves on our heart.

Bless you in our Lord's name,

Ruth Olson <><

2/8/11

Dear Friends,

I am so excited.  I have been waiting for the 02 man to come and finally today he came.  He showed me how to use the machine that takes out the Nitrogen from the air in the house and gave me a long 50 tube so I can do my walking exercises with 2 liters of 02 going.

As soon as he left, I tried it out.  Wonders of wonders, before I could only walk 2 minutes without getting out of breath and just now, I walked 10 whole minutes.  Glory to God.  My goal is to eventually walk 30 mins each day in the house without stopping. Naturally, this will take time, but I'm on a roll.  Tomorrow I go for my third breathing test in the past 20 some years.  We want to see if I've gotten better or worse.

Thank you for all your prayers for me.  And thank you for praying for Gentle Doves.  We did take off those of you who last gave in 2009, but the Lord already is replemishing the mailing list to make up for the lost ones.  By the way, if you still want to get the mailing, just send a small donation for 2011 and you're back on.  It's that simple.

Remember once you give for the year, you can add on anyone you'd like to get the magazine and we put them under your donation for that year.  You don't find that deal too often.

Blessings to you who look to God the Father for your health, provisions, and testimony.  He is your strength, your "very help in need."  Call on Him and Him and He will answer you.

Sincerely in the Lord's love,

Ruth Olson <><

Dear Friends,

I saw my doctor today and as I maybe mentioned before, my physcial therapist has found that my 02 level decreases when I walk only just 2 minutes.  We discussed this and my doctor just can't find anything that may be causing it.  She put a name to it, Restrictive Airway Disease.  In the meantime, I will be using 02 walking and doing my exercises at home, and also at night to see if it helps me sleep.  I will also have my third Breathing Test since moving here years ago.

My lungs are clear, blood work very good, weight coming down, blood pressure good, nothing seems to be wrong or be causing my lungs to not receive enough 02.  It may be due to the radiation I received when I had breast cancer.  That's a possiblity.  It may have brought injury to the lungs without any symptoms except what I have.

If you have a prompting from the Lord to pray, I'd appreciate it.  Your prayers have been so helpful up to this point.

If you haven't already, please look at the new link: Doves Outreach.  It will tell you about the people the Lord has put on my heart overseas.  If you can add a couple of dollars when you send in your yearly gift, and mention it is for Missions, we'd appreciate it.

God bless and keep you from sinning against Him.  Don't take the Name of the Lord in vain.  It is too holy for us to bring dishonor to it.  He is our precious Lord and Savior, our Mighty God and the Holy of Holies.

Love in Jesus,

Ruth Olson <><

Dear Friends,

I'll be seeing my Oncologist Feb 2 and will see how I am doing.  I'm feeling good and contribrute it to the Lord hearing and answering your prayers.  Thank you so much.  If I can pray for you, please let us know.  Hannelore, my prayer partner, and I pray every Monday morning for all readers of Gentle Doves who have requested prayer.

Now I seem to have only some back pain along with numbness of both sides of my thighs which comes on when I am cleaning house or walking too much.  That pain is from the spur in my back.  Nothing can be done for that unless the Lord heals it outright.  That would be great.  My goal this last week was to put all the Christmas decorations away.  It took time, but I rested much and finally got it done.  Another year gone by.  It will be great when this January rolls by too as it's very cold here.

My gmail is working now on my link.  You can either reach me with that or by using my email: jerryrutholson@msn.com.  Love to hear from you all.

Great news regarding Pastor Paul and his wife, Mary.  They had a baby boy on the 21st named Michael.  They have now 3 children.  Please refer to our Doves Outreach link for more news on the people we are supporting through this outreach.

"I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the Lord has done."  Psalm 118:17.  Be steadfast in what the Lord has called you to do for Him.  It is He you are pleasing, not yourself.  With obedience, joy comes from doing the task He gives you.  If you are not joyful in your work, seek His face and find out if what you're doing is of Him.  If not, listen and then obey.  He will direct your way.

Another thing: Many call me and ask for this and that, usually they want answers to their prayers.  Read the Word of God and get your answers.  He is there waiting for you to hear his voice.  Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.  Try it, you won't be disappointed.  Even in the hardest of circumstances, the Lord is there waiting for your call unto Him.  Cry out and wait for His answer.  He knows your situation; in fact He may have created it just to get your attention.  He loves you and knows what is best for you.  You can trust the Lord.

Dear Friends,

This will be a quick update as I just got done writing in so much information only to have it lost.  But I am taking the time to redo much of it for those of you who have been praying for me.

The noises that I was hearing are all gone.  I am so thankful for your prayers and God's answering them.  I had a basic hearing test today and all is well.

Also, my breathing condition is better, but I will need prayer to help me distinguish the problem before it begins to feed off of itself.  I'm in Physical Therapy and they are helping me build up my stamina to where I can breath normally while learning to improve my ability to function at normal exercise level.  This doesn't happen overnight and so your prayers are welcome to help me come to this level in a couple of months, if not sooner.  However, I must not force it upon myself but rest when I need to inbetween exercising.

The January/February issue is out.  Some haven't received it yet in their mailbox.  Let me know who you are.  Contact me at my personal email: jerryrutholson@msn.com.  For some reason my "Contact Ruth" link isn't working.

In closing I want you to remember this: "We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."  Ephesians 2:10.  Remember, God has prepared them for us to do.  Don't try to do something for the Lord and get worn out.  The thing He has prepared for you will appear in no time which you will so enjoy doing it in His strength, not yours.

Peace and joy in our Lord Jesus,

Ruth Olson <><

1/3/11

Hi Friends,

Thanks for taking the time tuning into my health update.  I have a few things to report.  I'm feeling good--no pain.  Remember when I mentioned that I have been hearing sounds?  My Oncologist sent me to an ear/eye/nose/throat Doctor and he figured out what is causing the noises.  I am so thankful, it's like a huge load was lifted from shoulders.

He explained (as many know) that we have three bones in each inner ear.  Two of those bones are attached to muscles.  When these muscles spasm, I hear that noise.  There is nothing that can be done for this.  However, we know that the Lord who created those muscles, can also calm them down so I don't hear the noises.

I would appreciate you prayer warriors lifting that request up to the Throne Room.

Also, many of you know that I have shortness of breath.  In fact, at some speaking engagements, I've had noticable problems with my inablity to breathe.  I have exercise induced asthma now for years, but it is getting increasingly worse.  Today I went to the Physical Therapy department and after a good exam by the therapist, she verified that I certainly have trouble with breathing and it could have come from my radiation treatments years ago following the mastectomy, damaging my lungs.  We will continue with building up my breathing capability and see what more can be done.

Thank you very much for your prayers.  How is the New Year coming along?  Is it everything you expected?  Never doubt the Lord Jesus working in your life.  Never, never, never doubt His love toward you.  Remember, He Died for You!  He's waiting for you to be touched by Him.  Just look up and receive His love completely and totally.  Live in His grace.

In His Holiness,

Ruth Olson <><

 12/21/10

Dear Friends,

Here's my health update as of December 21.  My oncologist told me today that I am in remission.  I was shocked because just 6 weeks ago she said I was NOT in remission.  It's your prayers friends, God is hearing all.  I asked her to explain the difference between remission and not in remission, but I still couldn't figure out what the difference is, only that it will return and my one Rochester oncologist added, "With vengence."  Well, I know God says that the vengence is His, so we'll see what happens.  I have many years yet to live out my service to the Lord.

I'm having trouble with labored breathing due to the exersized induced asthma which I've had for over 40 years, but now it's just getting worse.   She took an chest x-ray and all is normal.  I will have an a Echocardiogram on New Year's Eve day and also will see a doctor the same day for the "banging" in my head.

Sometimes, and I emphasize "sometimes", when a person has chemotherapy and radiation right above the heart, years later the result can weaken the heart.  That's why the doctor wants to check it to see if the heart has been weakened in any way causing my shortness of breath.

I am praying for all of our Gentle Doves' friends that you will have a blessed Christmas and New Year.  Our God is with us.  And He will be with us in the New Year.  In fact, He is waiting for us to join Him in the new year with open arms of never-ending love.  MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR.

 Ruth Olson

P. S.  Be sure to check in on the new link: Mission Outreach.

 12/17/10

Hi again,

Your prayers are reaching the Throne Room.  Thank you.   No Infusion for me.  Doctor said I was looking very good on paper.  Meaning my blood work was normal.  I'm doing so much better now.  What an attack by that enemy, the flu bug and you know who's behind that.  Thankfully, the Lord stood by me.  The angel assigned to me was keeping up with his work load.

I'm not suppose to fall, because they don't for me to break any bones as I would be on bedrest.  So as a result to help me, I use a cane.  However, in the house I don't necessarily need it.  When our cat tripped over some outgoing mail late last night, down the first and second step it went.  I had trouble bending down, so I got on my knees whereupon gravity began its work.  Immediately, I called out for help (God naturally, because Jerry was sleeping) and I could feel the touch of the angel's fingertip on my chest.  Yes, Virginia, there are angels.

Isn't it interesting that at Chrismas time, angels are drawn as female and cute little things?  I can only find one place in Scripture where there are mentioned female angels, all the rest, male.  Do you know where that is?

Merry Christmas every one of you.  You might be lifting up in prayer my head noises which I'm getting again.  I see the oncologist next Weds.  I'll report soon afterward.  Also coming up will be a new link on my website to "Doves Outreach."  (You can see pictures on Doves Album link.)  I've been too ill to do much with it, but will after the Christmas celebration of our dear Savior's birth.

Love in Him and in service for Him,

Ruth Olson <><

Going to the doctor today; will let you know what happens.  I know I'm very dehydrated because of flu.

12/15/10

Dear Readers,

For those who had the time to read this update yesterday and to pray, we can give thanks for some medication the doctor gave me and that I'm doing much better.  Not ready to dance, mind you, but hanging in there.  I'm convinced that the flu is to show one how sick others are.  My prayers are with you who are.

Ruth Olson <><

12/15/10

 Dear Friends,

I am sick with the flu and would appreciate prayer.  The banging noises in my head have returned.  I had this back some months ago, and a MRI gave a negative report--no cancer in brain.  I thank the Lord for this.

I know many of you have had the flu or maybe have it now.  Let me know.  I haven't seen it come on me for several years.  I am thankful it isn't Christmas week and hopefully, I will be free of it by then.  Those of you who are sick, please let me know and we will lift you up to the Throne of God.

Please lift up Bob and Mary.  Bob as of Dec. 6 was layed off from his job, and his wife is having gall baddler surgery tomorrow, December 15.  I know they will be comforted and blessed if they know you prayer warriors are praying for them.

Because of this sickness, I am far behind in mailing out Christmas cards and updating my website.  I will get at it very soon.

Love in our precious Savior, Jesus,

In His service, Ruth Olson

12/9/10

Dear Friends,

Can you believe it is December already?  I'm starting to get Christmas letters from some of you telling what you did this past year; the good and the bad events that happened in your lives.  Thankfully, the Lord has been with each of us in such cases.

Do you know how much our Lord loves us?   When you think of how He created the earth, sky, waters, creatures, man and woman and how He has looked over us all these years.  Think of your child or a little one you love so dearly.  Father God loves us that much and more

I know that the Lord will return and take me to Him some day. Why?  Because Jesus came as a Babe, born of a Virgin, and lived in obedience to His Father and gave His life for ME, for YOU.  He now sits on the right hand of the Father and He's praying for us.

Give your fear, problems, upsets, happiness, and everything your soul is hanging on to.  He wants you to have nothing between Him and you.  The Holy Spirit will gently speak to your spirit about what is separating you from Him.  The Cross should be the only thing.  When you kneel at His cross, and accept Him as your Lord and Savior, you will live for Him in beauty and grace.  Service to Him will be a joy.  Nothing will ever separate you from Father God.  See Romans 8.  And through trials, you will have peace that passes all understanding.

My health is good.  Your prayers are being heard and answered by our Lord Jesus.  I see my Oncologist just before Christmas.  I believe it will be a good report once again.  An update on Pastor Paul and his wife, Mary.  She hasn't had her third child yet but any moment now.

Pastor Paul says the children sleep on a dirt floor and it is raining so hard there now.  They are in need of bedding (sheets) and blankets.  If any can help, let me know by calling me at (651) 388-2206.  I always need Bibles to send to my friends overseas.  One lady gave me $200 but already that has been used to buy Bibles and to mail 4 boxes.  Please pray about it now before Christmas.

I'll give a report after I see the doctor.  If you have prayer needs, please let us know.  Hannelore and I pray every Monday at 9:30 a.m. and pray when you have a great need at any time.

A Blessed Advent to you all,  Jesus is coming soon!

Ruth Olson <><

12/2/10

Dear Readers,

Thank you for your prayers regarding our trip and the service in memory of my sister.  All turned out great.  The weather, the travel and meeting all our family will create lasting memories.

Please look up my Doves Album (go back to Home Page and in "side bar" you'll find the link) and see Pastor Paul Aduya and his wife, Mary, the children whom they are taking care of in their home in Kenya.  They request clothing for these children, some with HIV.  They need clothes from sizes 2-10.  They need things for Christmas and ask for money.  I can send clothes (pray I can find some good used ones), but the money is another factor.  Pray about these matters please.  Paul and Mary have 2 children of their own and are about to have their third child.  I want to thank Jeff Alpers for putting the children on my website.

I am doing fine regarding my health.  I have no pain anywhere.  Your prayers are being heard by our Living Lord, our Healer and Savior.  Those of you who prayed for my neck and shoulder pain, it's basically gone.  Thank you.

Have fun decorating and making cookies and Christmas goodies.  It's a beautiful season of love from the Lord to each of us.  Walk in it and celebrate it with one another.

More soon,

Ruth Olson <><

Dear friends who are prayer warriors,

Here are some urgent prayer needs.  Please as the Lord leads, pray for Linda and her parents; little Amy who was in a terrible car accident; and Eric and Sandy who both suffer from migranes.

And if time allows include me with terrific rt. shoulder and neck pain.

I hope everyone had a sincere grateful Thanksgiving.  Ephesians 1:3 reads" Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ."

In our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,

Ruth Olson <><

 11/23/10

Hello everyone,

Thanksgiving is just about here and I'm thinking of all the good food we'll have.  But more than that--the blessings I have received.  Jerry and I will be married 49 years tomorrow and what good memories we've had of being together.  It just goes on and on.

Thank you for your card/emails of comfort in regards to my sister's death.  We plan on leaving Sat. a.m. for Chicago and return soon after her memorial service, spending some time in Madison, WI.  We have wonderful memories in Madison with Jerry and I both meeting each other there, with him at the U. of WI and I studying at a Hospital for my nursing career.  Good, good memories so we try to go each year to visit.  Also we'll be visiting his family if at all possible.

I want to tell you about a project I'm working on.  I now have 5 families/persons to whom I send Christian books and Bibles overseas.  I've gotten to know each family and person quite well with emails flying back and forth from all of them.

One young Pastor and his wife, Paul and Mary, she just about having her third child any day, have a home for children (about 10 at last count) who have HIV disease.   They started the home in 2007.  He has sent me their pictures and when possible Jeff Alpers will put them on my website: www.gentledoves.org under the "Doves Album" page.

If any of you would like to send in any amount of money to help these young ones, (or any of the four others) you can get a tax benefit from it by sending the check to Ruth Olson Ministries.  You may even get a card from them thanking you, as Pastor Paul has been doing that with those who have sent money so far.  The name of the home they have decided and I have approved, is RuTh's home in Kenya.  I insisted that they show the "t" in my name to represent the Cross of Christ. (See the t as a captial letter?)  They are making a sign and will take a picture of it and send it to me.  Hopefully, I will have that on the web site too.

Friends, do not forget your Savior; grow much closer to Him in these times.  He wants you to reach out to Him and has so much for each of us.  The housework, and the work for Him even, can wait.  If you do it in the flesh, there will be no reward.  It's He who wants you!  He is the One who will bless your service for Him; right now attend to His needs.  You think Father God has no needs?  He wants your love, and your attention and your gratefulness.  He wants a relationship with you and then He will fully open the doors of service for you.  Mark my words--He loves you with an unending love.

Psalm 117.  "Praise the Lord, all you nations; extol him, all you peoples, For great is his love twoard us, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever.  Praise the Lord."

Happy Thanksgiving,

Dear Friends,

I have some wonderful news for all of you besides my family and myself. I was so happy when the doctor wrote me a note regarding my blood work so I didn't have to wait until Monday.  She wrote, "Your blood work looked great."  There is no sign of (new) cancer.  The blood work before your breast cancer is all normal now."

Glory to God!  He is so good and faithful.  He would still be good and faithful if I would have been notified of the cancer spreading.  We keep our eyes on JESUS, not on our problems.  We give Him honor and glory for being His servants, following Him where there seems to be no way.  He is our focus, He is our lover, he is our everything!  Never forget that, never!

In His servanthoood,

Dear Friends and those who have prayed for the healing of my sister,

Thank you for praying for my sister who unexpectedly was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and loss of kidney function just 10 days ago.  She passed to heavenly places with her Savior Jesus Christ tonight.  She is greeted by my parents and my other sister.  I can't wait until it's my turn and they all will be there with Jesus to welcome me.  Alice and I had become closer these past years and no one ever dreamed that she would be called home so soon.

Alice helped me by editing my third book and helped me so much with her expertise and wrote the Foreward.  I dedicated my first book to my older sister, Elaine.  It feels strange as I'm the last of the immediate family.  I can feel for those readers who are in the same position.  My prayers are with you and your family.

The Lord loves us so much and He expects us all to grieve.  Grieving will take its course and soon the Lord will replace it with comfort and joy knowing that our loved ones are with Him.

God bless you and keep you all close to His loving heart,

Ruth Olson <><

Dear Friends,

God has done a miracle for this new friend of mine.  Through many prayers, yours and mine and many others, after tests today, she called and told me she has no "new" cancer.  The doctor was puzzled because just yesterday she had told her that she had bone cancer.  But today after many tests that showed NO cancer, the doctor couldn't believe it and finally said, "That is good news."

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit!  How wonderful to hear from someone who has been healed.  Thank you Lord Jesus!

I just had to share that with you all.  There is always hope through Jesus Christ.  Stand fast with whatever is going wrong in your life.  He is your hope, your joy, your salvation.

Hi again,

I got a call today from a lady who has exactly what I have had health wise, in that she had breast cancer and now is diagnosed with bone cancer.  She just found out today and asked if I could talk with her.  She was calling from Mayo Clinic and apparently had just been told.  She was in much need of hope.  She called twice today and I told her to call at anytime.  Please pray for her.  I'm not at liberty to give out her name, but the Lord knows all about her.  Also, include me in prayer so I may receive wisdom from God to encourage especially women who are so in need.

Thank you,

Ruth Olson <><

Dear Friends,

I can't believe it's been so long since I've been in contact with you.  You maybe have read about my sister, Alice on the front page under my picture.  The Lord hasn't taken her home yet.  Please keep the family in prayer.  She is not suffering but is asking when He will come and take her.

We just got back from the Black Hills and Mt. Rushmore for a short vacation.  We had car trouble but the Lord provided.  Then we had a RCI condominium for one week, when after one day we had to take me to the E.R. in another town to find out why I couldn't breathe.  I do have Exercise Induced Asthma and as a result just couldn't tolerate the high altitude.  So instead of getting O2 for me, we just moved down the mountain, so to speak.

I have a question for you.  The first one who can answer it, I'll send them one of my books free.  Where did the actual name of Mt. Rushmore come from?

I'm feeling well and excited to what the New Year will bring.  I know it's early yet, but the Lord is moving and it's wonderful to be a part of what He is doing among us.  I am getting a lot of mail from the friends overseas who so need bibles and Christian books.  Again, if any of you would like to send some money for shipping, or give some bibles, it would be greatly appreciated.

In the love of our Savior and Healer,

Hi again,

Here's an update from my niece regarding her mother.  Alice had her tests this afternoon and they found a 1 inch growth on her pancreas of which they took a biopsy.  They put in a stint in her bile duct so the liver could start working again.  Her kidneys are weak and so they will hydrate her to get them working well again too.  They also found out that in the last couple weeks, her heart has weakened.  They were going to take her gall bladder out on Thursday, but not now.

For those of you praying on her behalf, please continue.   She is a believer of the Lord Jesus Christ and knows He is with her.  We pray for her complete healing and the peace of the Lord for he and her family.

Thanks so much.

10/25/20

Dear Friends,

I just got a phone call from my neice who informed me my sister, Alice, who lives in Chicago, Il, in a nrsg. home, was taken to the E.R. tonight because she has been losing weight and also they think there is a mass near her liver and/or kidneys.  She will have a test tomorrow to find out what is blocking her liver or where the mass is located.

Please pray on her behalf that they find out what is wrong and that she is able to tolerate the test.

In the meantime, I am doing well.  I barely have any pain; the last pain pill I took was on Sunday.  We will be leaving on a short vacation.  We will have someone watching our home so we don't have to worry about anything going wrong.  Also, the Lord has placed a huge angel for years now in front of our house.  I know the Lord will be with us and that we will enjoy the trip.

May the Lord continue to heal, watch over all of you, and fill you with His joy and peace.  I plan on taking the computer with me, so please let me know if you need prayer and I will update my sister's health soon.

10/16/10 late afternoon.

Read below first please.  Today after Joy's email, she called me.  She was in so much pain from her back, yes her back.  Joy has had so many surgeries on her back and she told me she has to have yet another back surgery after her heart surgery.

This lady needs warrior prayer, friends.  Please keep her in your prayers.  She is so thankful that people are praying for her.  Lord, have mercy on your servant, Joy.

ruth olson

Hi Friends,

I just received an email from Joy, the lady I asked you to pray for (see 9/10 this update).  Her heart surgery is scheduled for 11/15, but she would like it sooner because she is so uncomfortable with her pulse racing between 163 and 166.  It can only be sooner if her symptoms increase or if there is a cancellation.

Join me in prayer: Dear Lord have your perfect way with Joy.  Give her patience and hope.  But most of all, please heal her body completely, In your Son's name.  Amen.

Thank you friends.  Joy is so thankful for your prayers.

 Dear Friends,

Wow!  You people do know how to pray!  The Lord heard your cry for me and 2 days later, I feel great.  Thank you Jesus for hearing their prayers and mine, and thanks to you for being obedient to the Father by praying.

Some of you may remember the ministry of Ed Cole.  He has passed to glory land now, but his family is keeping up his website.  What I remember about him is his one liners.  This series of 4 lines makes so much sense and I use it often in counseling and speaking.  I may have shared this with you all before on this site, but this is for my new readers.

Communication: Essence of Life

Balance: Key to Life

Exchange: Process of Life

Agreement: Power of Life

1.  As we think about these powerful words, we can see where they fit in our lives.  For example, we must communicate with one another or else nothing is gained.

#2  Keep a balance to your life.  My husband always says, "Moderation, moderation, moderation in everything.

#3  When I was a little girl, my mother would send me some blocks away to get some bread.  She always put enough cash in my little hand. When I got to the store I would ask for bread, the owner would then get the bread and I would give him the money my mother had given me.  There was an exchange.  I wouldn't be able to get the bread with making some exchange for it.  This is a good example.  Maybe you can think of a bad example in your life where you're exchanging good for evil.  The Lord is impressing on you to not do it.  Listen to Him.

#4  We must agree to obtain power in our life.  Husbands and wifes must agree on everything with the husband leading the way on the agreement.  We used this a lot when our children were small.  My husband and I would agree before he left on a flying trip, that what the kids were wondering about, I would have a agreed answer from him to give them.  For example: if you child wants a certain "toy," agree with your husband that you will purchase the toy after he gets back or not purchase the toy.  Agreement gives power, direction and purpose.  Otherwise there is no easy solution.

Readers, thank you again for prayers.  Please if anyone is struggling now, living through a disapointment, facing a serious condition, get people behind you to encourage and lift you up.  Contact me if you need any of these.  A woman from out-of-state just called me this morning wanting prayer for an upcoming surgery.  We need each other!

"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." Galatians 6:2.

Dear Friends,

Those of you who are prayer warriors, please lift me to the Lord in prayer.  I'm having some pain in my groin the past days.  Thank you.

10/9/10

 Dear Readers,

I just got an email this morning from a woman named Joy.  Would you please lift her up in prayer as the Lord leads you?

She informed me that in a few weeks, as soon as her surgeon makes a slot for her, she will have her 8th surgery in 3 years.  This one will be on her heart, the last one was also.  Her other surgeries have been on her back.

I've grown to know and appreciate Joy.  She is a faithful believer in her Healer, the Lord Jesus Christ.  But she needs the Body of Belivers to stand about her and do the praying she so needs to be reassured that He will lead the surgeon's hands, and that her recovery will be quick with no complications.

Thank you so much friends.  I know she will greatly appreciate it.

I'm still feeling well unless I "do" too much, then there's some pain.  (Also, right below my right knee, it hurts off and on.)  Thankfully, I have a husband who is willing to do whatever needs to be done around here, inside and out.  However, he can't make a pie and so I have that honor.  I just made an apple pie from our one apple tree.  Smells so good.

In His precious name,

Hi Friends,

It's been some time since I've written and updated my Health Report.  I'm feeling good, that's probably why I haven't written much.  I so thank you all who pray for me and my healing.  I know the Lord hears your prayers on my behalf and I'm grateful that He is listening and blessing you all for taking the time to pray along with sending cards and emails.

I have to tell you something that happened to me today.  A dear friend from out-of-town, called me and as we were "catching up" she began singing a song to the Lord.  I knew the song and so I joined her.  That has never happened to me.  It was so the Holy Spirit, and when we were through we gave Him all the glory.

It's that time of year when we are thinking of Christmas coming and giving gifts.  I would like you to consider purchasing one of my books, which you can review on this website.  They would be perfect for presents, either for birthday gifts, Christmas giving, or for yourself to share with others.

If you have any prayer requests, don't hesitate to send them via "How to Contact Ruth."  Please consider joining the mailing list of Gentle Doves which will come to you every two months through regular mail with only a yearly donation of any amount.

Please pray for Alice, for Linda and for Martha.  The Lord will know exactly who you are praying for.  Thank you.

May the Lord continue to bless this outreach for His total glory.

"Fight the good fight of the faith."  I Timothy 6:12a.  I'm standing with you!

Thank you in Jesus Name,

Ruth Olson <><

Hi Friends,

See me smiling on my Home Page?  I'm smiling that way now too.  My oncologist gave me a complete checkup and announced, "No new cancer."  Happy, happy me, and very grateful for all your prayers.

She wondered how I can tolerate my back as it's "such a mess."  She asked me if I had ever been in an accident, but no, I haven't.  Again she mentioned that if I didn't have cancer, they would most likely do surgery on my back.  Because of the spur on my spine, the outside of both of my thighs go numb when I stand a long time.  That's something you can add to your praying if so moved by the Holy Spirit..

I now am sending boxes of Christian books and bibles to people across the seas.  I have about 5 people now I send to.  Again, if you would like to be a part of this little mission, send any amount of money to Ruth Olson Ministries, 30090 Hay Crk.Trl., Red wing, MN 55066.  You will get a tax deduction slip.  I'm in touch with all these people, so I know when they get the books.  They are so thrilled to receive any books.  Thanks for considering it.

Those of you who are interested in getting Gentle Doves, the Christian magazine I put out every other month, please write me at the above address and include an offering for the year.  More information is on the "About Gentle Doves" site.  The reason I mention this is I am occasionally asked how to be on the mailing list.  I'm doing the November/December issue now.

If you have any prayer needs, please contact me.  God's abundant blessings from above.

Dear Friends,

The result of the Sleep Clinic interview was a very satisfactory one.  The doctors were absolutely delightful.  Jerry and I learned a lot.  My diagnosis is: Delayed sleep phase syndrome.  I'm truly thankful it was easy for them to figure out, in that I did not have a stay-over night sleep time.

What's happening is I just have to "redo" my body's thinking regarding sleep.  I get plenty of sleep, only at the wrong time.  I saw this by filling out two week's of a "sleep log" showing that I sleep well when I do sleep, but I don't lie down and go to sleep until well after midnight.

Although none of us could zero in on when this all began, (they sure asked the questions and did research on my complaint of insomnia), the idea now is to correct it very slowly.  It will take time as I have taught in the past that when we need to change a habit (a sin structure) where you need to replace the old habit with a new one, it takes time and a consious effect.  I'll do this by simply not napping as much during the daytime and applying that rest time to my bedtime sleep.  And they also gave other ways to help accomplish the goal of a good night's sleep.

So when you think of it, please ask the Lord to bless my progress.  I am to go back in 4 weeks.  Hopefully, they will be satisfied, but more importantly, I will be well-rested and back to normal with strength and energy to carry out the Lord's work.

I received from a woman many new bibles to ship overseas.  If you can help out with any postage money, please do so.  It is tax deductible if you write the check out to "Ruth Olson Ministries" or to "Gentle Doves."   It costs about $50 for a box of about 10-15 books considering the weight of the books.

A recent email came from a Pastor whose church only has two bibles among them.  I also am in contact with a woman whose ministry is to give out bibles and children's books to "new born" Christians.  She has 9 children, her husband died and she has no house to live in and the last email she said she ran out of food for the children.  Please pray for her, her name is Grace, and ask the Lord for daily bread for her and the children.  She stands fast in the Lord, as all of the 5 groups that I send bibles to, but suffer so for their faith.

Soon near the first of September you will be receiving the next issue of Gentle Doves.  For your offering to continue to remain on the mailing, you can add any number of new people for the mailing list with your current donation.  Their name will stay on as long as your gift for the present year.  After that, you can give with their name again in the New Year, of let them give a offering of any amount for the next year.  We have many who do this for birthday gifts, Christmas gifts etc.  Many purchase my book(s) for the same reason.

God loves us so much that one can hardly take it in.  Remember, any idol we have blocks us from Him.  If you ask Him, He will show you that idol, that thing that you love more then Him, and He will destroy it.  He will help you rid yourself of it.  As a result, you will see Him more clearly and worship Him with the fullness of joy and peace.  Talk about being free!  See Psalm 146:7b.

In His precious name,

Ruth Olson <><

Hi Friends,

I sure am feeling better thanks to the Lord hearing and answering your prayers for me.  Thank you so much.

Do you greet the Lord in the morning?  I'm in the process of teaching a young girl to do just this.  It's difficult, especially when you can't see the Person of the Holy Spirit.  In fact, some have a problem with even greeting their parents or those sibblings who live with them upon getting up from sleep.

Our Lord wants to visit with us in the morning before the rush of the day begins.  "Communication is the essence of life."  That's a quote from Ed Cole.  Some of you may remember him.  He asked Jerry once if he'd like to serve the Lord with him, but after prayer, it wasn't Jerry's calling.  At any rate, Ed helped many of us learn how to communicate.  You can get into Ed's website: www.edcolelibrary.com.  The site is a triubute to him and has many of his books, tapes etc. he wrote.  He has long gone to be with the Lord, communicating face to face with Him.  How glorious that must be.

We are to be moved by the Spirit's voice. (My sheep hear my voice.)  Do you?

What I do in the morning upon awaking is I tell the Lord that I am dead in Him--when He died on the cross, I did too.  Then I gratefully say that I am alive in Him now.  I ask Him to help me today to do His will, not mine.  I also ask Him for wisdom, His wisdom.  When during the day I get calls, emails or have a counseling time, I use that wisdom of His and leave it then up to the Lord to do His work.  It is very fulfilling and my heart gives Him all the glory no matter if the person uses the wisdom or not.

It may take a lot of practice, like the young girl I'm working with, by only saying, "Hi God," then jumping out of bed, but that's a start.  And it will come more and more comfortable to speak with Him first thing; the blessings are overwhelming.  And be still because He may just speak to your heart.

Communication is the essence of His life.

Peace to all,

Ruth Olson <><

Glory to the Lord, the only One Lord, our Savior, Jesus,

I just got a call from my doctor's nurse saying that my MRI of my skull is absolutely NORMAL.  The sounds in my head have been gone for a day, and I'm so grateful.

On the 19th I go to a sleep clinic in the Twin Cities.  Filling out the forms now.  Thank you so much for taking the time to pray.

If you're new to this website, please scroll downward to see what's been happening  with my health.

I continue to look upward,  Focusing on those who are sick in spirit, soul, and body.  Find that old dusty Bible of yours, and read what's in it for YOU.

Dear Friends,

I've been very sick.  It's almost too much to tell here because I'm so tired.  My insomnia after all these years has caught up with me and so I spent a lot of time at the hosp/clinic in our town all day yesterday.

It seems like I have two problems: exhaustion from insomnia and hearing sounds in my head, like pounding.  Never stops.

As a result, I will have a MRI this Thursday afternoon to see what is going on inside my head--I tell others that I am hearing the Lord preparing my mansion, however I intend to stick around here for a long time yet.  And then I will get a sleep diagnosis testing done in the Twin Cities, on August the 19th.

Please keep these things in prayer and along with that, also please lift up to Heaven's doors, Betty who is suffering from cancer, and Joy who is suffering from back and heart surgeries.  I know they would appreciate your prayers also.

Until I can update you on something more substantial, keep your head up high, as you watch Jesus who is blessing you with every turn in your life.  Testify to others how He is helping you in both the little and big things.  He loves you very much!

ruth olson <><

P. S.  I must share this with you all.  How I love flowers and often during my first bout with cancer, I would receive flowers from friends/relatives.  Since the bone cancer cancer came along, I was so sick I didn't think much about getting flowers, until yesterday.

After Jerry and I got back home from spending the entire daytime at our hosp/ER/clinic, we were coming into our driveway and I looked at my flower garden--flowers of which have bloomed themselves out--and lo and behold, I saw some beautiful pink day lilies.  I said to Jerry, "When did I plant them?"  I just can't recall ever planting pink lilies.

I am fully convinced I haven't ever planted such and where then did they come from?  The Lord Jesus, that's where!

Be watching for surprises, friends.  He's got some coming for you too.  I Peter 5:7, "Cast all your care/anxiety on him because he cares for you."  He'll hand deliver a bouquet for you directly in your own garden!  He cares for us!

7/24/10

Hi again,

It's been some time since I've written to you.  I thank you all who remember me in your prayers and send cards, emails, FB comments etc.  I understand that some of you even see to it that you copy these letters and share them with those without computers.  That is so loving of you to do so.

Often I'm asked how I'm doing and my comment is usually, "It depends on the day."  I don't hurt much at all--and I'm please to use this quote: "steady as she goes."  My main thing is being so tired during the day.  At times I just can't do anything worth noting, but I continue to counsel and work on Gentle Doves and that's my purpose in life; activities where I can lift Jesus up for all to see.  I still go out and speak/minister and enjoy writing.

I asked the Lord when I got this bone cancer what He was going to change and what I was suppose to do now.  He seemed to whisper in my ear, "Keep doing what you're doing."  That greatly encouraged me.  He just doesn't "drop" us when we get sick.  Oh no!  He lifts us up high on His wings and carries us about doing His work and giving Him praise.  And many times, He heals us.  Keep the faith.  Whatever the outcome, He loves you so dearly.  Keep serving Him no matter what.

By the way, are you currently having problems with someone?  Problems that don't seem to go away?  May I suggest to you Philippians 4:8.  I love this verse and use it a lot when I just can't get with it being neighborly to someone who is just the opposite, or working with someone who won't compromise, or dealing with a person who is "getting under my skin."

I'm not writing it out here, the verse that is, because I want you to look it up.  Many of us are not into regular Bible reading; we have so many excuses for not looking into its pages.  Bare in mind that Jesus saw to it that those beautiful, meaningful pages are meant for us to cherish.  And, how can one love the Bible if it isn't read?  The Holy Spirit will help you.  He'll bless you for doing it.

In the meantime, I pray all is well with each of you.  If we can lift you in prayer, please let us know.  We pray on Monday mornings.

Blessings in our Lord Jesus Christ,

ruth olson <><

7/16/10

Hi again, here I am with some wonderful stories of God's protection,

Recently terrific storms went through the western area of MN and the eastern section of WI where my son and his wife, Jeff and Teresa, along with their 4 children live.  A tornado tore through between their home and a neighbor's home across the road from them.  The Lord protected both families even with the neighbor's shed flying apart across the road to hit the Olson's house,  smashing a side window.  From there, it continue to fall apart and finally landing on a high wire line and stuck there near our son's home.

Much more damage and injuries could have happened.  Also many of their trees were ruined along with a huge oak tree uprooted on their property. Part of a tree branch acted like a spear flying through the air and digging into the top of their house as if someone threw a spear directly into the roof.  All this and no one was hurt.  We give the Lord praise for sending His angels to protect everyone.

Next, my husband had today a very heavy metal object fall from a level high enough to have injured Jerry quite seriously.  However, when it fell, it just missed his head and landed on the back of his neck and tumbled off his shoulders and back, knocking him down.  He only got a scratch from it, and no pain so far.  Again, the angels were watching over us all.

And tonight I went to the ER with much lower abdominal pain throughout the day, thinking I was experiencing my second kidney stone.  After a scan, along with test for my bladder, it came out negative for stone and positive for  bladder infection.  Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised.

Thank you, Lord, for taking care of us these past few days.  Our lives are in your hands.

Don't ever forget there are angels all around all of us who do the Father's biddings at all times.  We give you thanks for them, Lord.

Dear Friends,

A dear friend of Hannelore's and mine who lives in an apartment building has a deep passion to reach all of the tenents bringing them to the knowledge of Jesus Christ.

She has decided to send each a Christian tract of Billy Graham's and along with that, she's asked me to wrote a note to send with it.

Here is that note and you can use it too in any way you would like.  You do not need any permission to use it.

Dear Friend,

When we look back on our lives, I think all of us would like to be a "living testimony" for those around us.  What does that mean?  We hope that the things we have done in our lives are acceptable to God.  Sometimes, however, we may see where we have felt guilty about how we have lived in the past.  That guilt hangs over us and we try to ignore it or simply forget it.  But it never leaves us.

But we can be free of such guilt and be happy, letting others see how we have lived a good life, one we can be proud of.  That happens when we have a relationship with Jesus Christ, the only Son of the Most High, the Savior of the world.

The enclosed tract is yours to keep.  Use it to study and understand what the Lord has done for each of us.  God the Father has sent His only begotten Son, Jesus, to die for all of our sin.  He wants for us to have peace of mind and heart, and freedom of sin, guilt, and past mistakes.  God opens up a door through His Son for each of us to walk through, asking for forgiveness and receiving peace.

He will do that for all who ask.  If you have not yet accepted the Lord Jesus Christ in your life, or have thought about it but never have done anything about it, now is the time to simply bow your head in the privacy of your home and ask God to forgive you all all sin and accept Jesus into your life.

You will never regret it.  He loves you because God IS love.  And that love will fill your heart to overflowing for yourself and others.

I will pray that the Holy Spirit will soften your heart to the point of you reaching out to Him in faith and that He will always love, and protect you, guide and instruct you.  This is the moment.

Sincerely,

A Friend

Recent health update:  Your prayers are being heard and answered.  My last physical and blood tests proved no "new" cancer.  I am elated.  Thank you so much for lifting me and my husband up in prayer.

Again, I remind you of my book on Cancer, My Gift to You  Encouragement through a Cancer Crisis.  If your friends or loved ones have the dreaded disease, please give them this book.  It will encourage them and give them Bible verses to learn and rely on.  You can purchase the book at the Red Wing Christian Book Store or on any on-line book website such as Amazon, etc.  Also, you can purchase the book through me at: Ruth Olson Ministries, 30090 Hay Crk. Dear Friends,

I want to transfer a thought regarding prayer to you via the Christian Aid Mission monthly letter for July 2010.

"Intercessory prayer is indeed spiritual warfare.  In the garden of Gethsemane our Lord sweat drops of blood as He agonized in prayer.  To the saints in Colosse the Apostle Paul wrote that Epaphras was always laboring fervently in prayer for you (Colossians 4:12).  Our Saviour said, Men ought always to pray, and not faint (Luke 181).  To faint means we give up before the answer comes.

"When we start to pray, God dispatches an angel to meet that need or to answer that prayer.  But if we give up and stop praying before that angel accompishes his purpose, the answer may never come.  Angels are ministering spirits sent forth to minister to those who are heirs of savation (Hebrews 1:14).  After our Lord had labored earnesly in prayer in Gethsemane, there appeared an angel unto Him from heaven, strengthening Him (Luke 22:43)."

Prayer is so important and meaningful.  It does something that we don't even realize--sometimes we think we are just talking to the ceiling.  But we must put our faith in those things that we cannot see.  (See Hebrews 11:1)  Right now, Jesus is praying for you and me.  He is hearing our prayers and dispatching angels to answer them one by one.  At times as we know, He answers them before we even speak them out to Him.  Amazing grace!

Greetings again to all you readers,

I want to tell you some sad news.  Our daughter-in-law, Jeannie Olson, has just lost her Dad, Kenneth Sweeney, to bone cancer.  The Lord designed it so they got there just in time to be with him.  Our prayers are with her and I ask, if led by the Holy Spirit, to lift her and the family, and her brother's family in prayer.

Thank you,

ruth olson <><

Greetings friends,

"I have set the Lord always before me.  Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.  Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure, because you will not abandon me to the grave nor will you let your Holy One see decay."  Psalm 16:8-10.  NIV

Jesus did NOT see decay, nor will we.  Our spirit will rise above upon our death to see Jesus face to face, and to live in His glory forever and ever.

I want to update you who are interested in my health.  Thank you for your prayers--I certainly appreciate them.  I currently have no pain unless I do some physical work.  It doesn't take much for my back to start hurting; just changing linen, or sweeping the deck off will set off such pain in my back I have to sit and rest.  Also, sitting in a chair that has no support for my back will cause discomfort.  This pain seems to be increasing.

Please keep it in your prayers.  Thank you all for praying that the cancer will not spread to other organs.  Many of you are praying that for me; I know because you write me and tell me.

As I mentioned in an update months ago, the doctor at Mayo said to my doctor that she would recommend back surgery if I didn't have the cancer there.  So when I work physically, I feel the pain of either the cancer, spur on my spine, or arthritis in my back.  Where the other cancer is located, there is no pain except in my right groin when I walk too much.  Otherwise, the cancer in my left arm, 1/3 of my right femur and the tip of the right hip, is very quiet.

When I see my oncologist in August, I may have another test to see if all the cancer is presently active but being controlled by our Lord, or if it has spread.  The left side of my spine has a "hot" spot and that will hurt along with the right lower side when I do any work.

So, dear friends, please continue to lift high your prayers to the Lord for all your friends who have cancer, along with myself.  Please let me know if you have any prayer needs.  We will add them to our list and plead before the Lord God Almighty to take heed and answer in His perfect timing.

I would love to come and minister and pray for those you meet with.  I don't charge anything as some think; a basket for a love offering is fine.

God bless and keep you all in His presence of peace and security, fixed in His love so you will not be shaken as the above Psalm says.

The next issue of Gentle Doves is at the printers now.  If you don't presently receive it in your mailbox, let me know by signing up.  A once a year gift is all you need to be inspired by others like you who are walking the walk of Christ Jesus. (Write to me at: Ruth Olson, 30090 Hay Crk. Trl. Red Wing, MN 55066.  An offering of any amount is fine with us.

Thanks for all the love you send my way,

Ruth Olson <><

Hello everyone,

Thank you, friends, for being patient with me.  I've been sick with what turned out to be the flu for over a month.  We just didn't know what it was and finally our dear Lord came through by healing me.  All praise to Him.  I feel like my old self again.

Today we sent the money to Pastor Keya Zablon and his wife, Truphena, for a generator.  They live in Kenya, East Africa.  (I give credit to Hannelore MacKinney for taking charge of this.)  Now when the Zablons asked me some time ago, I told him that there was no way I could get money for such an item; that I just couldn't come up with the money.  He did his research and found the cheapest one available which still would do what he needed it for.

Still he persisted, asking me to send money, and I kept encouraging him that the Lord would come through for him.  I started figuring out how I could save up the money, but the Lord had other plans.  (You can read about this on the 5/23/10 update.)  The Lord wanted to receive ALL the glory in this little venture.

Before we knew it, we had the complete amount this Pastor needed and we sent it off via Western Union this afternoon.  Our hearts are joyful and once he gets my email, I know that all the people in the house of God there will be very grateful too.

"For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength."  I Corinthians 1:25.

If you think you can't do it, God can!  If you think it is impossible, it isn't with God!  The Lord is smiling now--we give Him all the glory and praise for accomplishing this action of love through us all.

Thank you, and again I want you to know that He is answering your prayers for me.  I have no pain whatsoever.  Continue to pray that this cancer will NOT spread into my liver, brain or other organs.

Happy June to all of you,

I picture June with wedding bells ringing for many couples starting out their life together.

I sent for a picture by Linda Harris-Iorio, www.godcolorart.org, one drawn by Linda of a lovely woman dressed in white dancing while holding a lit candle and a dove flying above.  Her back is toward us and she is dancing up the stairs.

What stands out is the pure white color of her dress, the blue hue of the dove flying, the candle--the light of Christ, and a deep red, reminding us of Jesus' blood, shed for each of us.  Surrounding all these colors is a darkness that only the candle can light the space.  As she dances, her eye is on the candle showing her the way.

It is entiled, "Dance of the Bride." The sub-title is "The wedding of the Lamb has Come, and His Bride has Made Herself Ready."  Revelation 19:7-9.

When Jerry has a wedding I always picture the bride as the Bride of Christ, and the groom as our Jesus coming for us, His Bride.  The joy in both of the groom and bride's faces is just a faint clue of what is waiting for us in the household of faith, when Jesus comes.

We've heard it plenty of times--He is coming soon!  Keep believing it saints.  Keep that thought on the front burner of life.  Tell others.  Tell your loved ones to watch carefully, ready to leave everything behind.  Revelation 2, "Behold, I am coming soon!  My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done."

"The Spirit and the bride say, 'Come!' " Revelation 12:17

"He who testifies to these things says, 'Yes, I am coming soon'" Revelation 12:20.

Those of you who are prayer warriors, please if led by the Lord, lift my daughter-in-law's father who is suffering terribly from bone cancer.  His name is Kenneth and no one knows but Jesus how long he has on this earth.  Pray that the Holy Spirit will meet with Kenneth, and that our Lord will heal him or take him quickly.  We leave him in your perfect hands Lord Jesus.

Thank you friends,

Ruth Olson <><

Hi Friends,

Well, it happened to me and I would guess it will happen again.  I got terribly low last night.  It actually came on in the daytime where it escalated into the evening hours.  I felt like I was slipping into a huge black hole.  Depression happens quickly, suddenly it appears and you find yourself looking up from a pit of despair.

I emailed a friend fully knowing that she would not be answering me until the mid-morning, so I searched the scriptures.  Nothing.  The Lord was there, of course, but He wanted me to trust.  I came against the "unbelief" showing up in my heart, and went to bed trying to dig out of the hole.

Today, I found myself humming a song from my childhood.  From my second book, (Keep on Walking, page 59, in "Heart Songs"), I write how we can discover how a song from our memory can encourage us.  Wtih that thought in mind, I recognized the song and applied it to my situation.

The song was, "Down in the valley, valley so low.  Hang your head over, hear the wind blow.  Hear the wind blow, dear, hear the wind blow, hang you head over, hear the wind blow."  (Unknown author)

My parents would take the family on a summer vacation each year having saved some of my dad's meager income for the trip.  We had no car radio, or A/C for that matter and I have some lovely memories of rubbing my dad's neck often, hoping that he wouldn't fall asleep while driving.  During these long rides to our destination, we would sing songs and "Down in the Valley" was one of them.  (By the way, we kids would laugh with glee when Dad would hook the horn when going under an overpass.)

The Lord showed me how I was in the valley, but I was with Him in the valley.  Suddenly I could see it.  He and I were walking into the depths of the low land (black hole) and were both listening for the wind, the blessed Holy Spirit, as we climbed downward hanging our heads over the cliffs.  Yes, it was dangerous; I could feel the tension of not wanting to fall.  But with the Lord by my side, the depression lifted and throughout today I felt much better.

Having a disease, taking medications, reading of one dying of the same disease can make one helpless.  But please remember, along with me, that the Lord will never desert us--His everlasting love never lets us drift off.  He carries us on His wings of healing and love.  By morning, I was sailing on the wind of the Holy Spirit with Christ lifting me up and beyond that dark hole.

See and know that He is lifting you up far above the pain, discouragement, helplessness and the total blackness of your situation.  On His wings, you are safe and on the way of being healed, and you being delivered, your prayers answered.  Take heed, He will help you.

Blessings beyond all you can imagine,

Ruth Olson <><

Dear Friends,

It's Pentecost today.  Let's release the Holy Spirit across our country in faith that He will renew our faith and love in the Lord Jesus Christ, giving to us all His gifts as He wills, and letting His fruits grow within us.

I have wonderful news.  Pastor Keya Zablon and his dear wife, Truphena, from Kenya, East Africa, contacted me sometime last year and we have become friends.  Many contact me from India and Africa and I pray over each one whom the Lord would have us help.  Pastor Zablon as it turns out, is very likeminded with me and I feel the Lord has given me a new friend to encourage and be blessed by.

Pastor Zablon told me he so needed a generator to preach to those outside his church.  I asked the cost and he found the cheapest cost at several different places.  I told him it would a long time before he should expect this generator money.  I began to pray about it and soon we had about $320 saved.  This amount all was donated for this special project.

I continued to pray and just last week a woman gave me the balance.  I was so shocked and pleased with the answer to the prayer.  Now I am emailing this Pastor to let him know this week we will be transferring this money into his bank account.  The amount was around $750.00.

Isn't the Lord faithful and mighty to serve?  He loves us so much.  How He shows His love to us is through things such as this.  I just had to tell you readers to keep your head up to see the coming of the Lord in your personal life.  Reach out to Jesus, and behold the glory of the Lord.  Get excited how He will answer your prayers.

Lately, I have been taking some pain pills, but generally I haven't any pain in my body.  I thank you all so much for your prayers.

In Jesus,

Ruth Olson <><  Psalm 147:10, 11.

 Hi Friends,

I'm feeling good.  I had my 70th birthday on Friday last week and I feel like I've "grown up."  Silly, but that's how I feel.  I've learned so very much these past years having cancer.  God is good; He is so faithful.

Thank you all for your cards, letters, emails, Facebook messages, flowers and the like.  Also, and most of all, thank you so much for praying.  Many, I discovered, are praying against the pain in my groin and back.  The Lord is hearing your prayers.

May I pray for your needs?  Hannelore and I would love to.  We pray every Monday for hours and certainly can include your prayer requests.  We ask only that you keep us updated so we can pray accordingly.

May I remind you that I would love to come speak and minister at your home, or church, women's group and the like.  We don't charge anything, just a free will offering basket is fine.  Pray about it and see how the Lord answers.

I found the following in my Aunt Ella's things after she went to be with the Lord.  It was in German, but I asked Hannelore if she would interpret it for you and me.

Here is the Evening Prayer:

Tired I am, going to rest, closing my eyes.  Father let your eyes be over my bed.

Did I do wrong today, dear God don't look at it;  Your mercy and Christ's blood makes all wrong well.

All that are related to me, God let them rest in your hand.  All people great and small I commend unto you.

Send rest to sick hearts, close wet eyes.  Let us stand fast in faith until we go to heaven.  Amen.

I'm sure my 100 year old Aunt read this many times.  I can't wait until I see her again.

Love in Jesus,

Ruth Olson <><

Hi Friends,

I'm feeling good today.  I talked with a dear friend, Carole, and she said they pray for me so I won't have pain, and I tell you I'm doing well.  The less I do, of course, there is less pain.  Praise God, my husband helps so much in the cleaning etc.  But I'm convinced the Holy Lord is hearing the prayers and answering them one by one.

I want to share with you how important it is to give someone who is sick encouraging words.  If I wasn't done with my third book on cancer, My Gift to You, Encouragement During a Cancer Crisis, I would be putting this sincere comment in the book, it's that rewarding.

A friend told me today what a mutual friend commented about me after visiting with her for a short time.  She said, "Ruth wears cancer with such grace."

That comment from this friend, and also agreed by my friend who shared it with me, brought tears to my eyes.  Friends, they are seeing Jesus through me.  We need to speak words that will lift us all up at times we need it.  How do we do that?  I'm sure that person would agree that it was Jesus speaking through her, and what an positive effect it had on my spirit.  We all are constantly being used by the Holy Spirit.  Be free in Him and let Him have His way in using you.  He knows exactly what time we need encouragement.  You be the one He speaks through; it was be a rejoicing moment in your life and my, how it will renew the spirit of the person hearing it.

Love in Jesus,

 Dear Friends,

My computer had to be fixed again since I've seen my oncologist, but now I can update you on what's happening.

I asked the doctor what the radiation oncologist said to her in their conversation about me recently.  The doctor at Mayo said that since she gave me so much radiation in August of last year, I can't have any more for awhile.  Also that since no one can actually "see" the cancer in lower rt. side of my back, with all the arthritis and spur on spine, then we should just wait.  These things I already knew from the nurse calling me weeks ago.

However, my doctor mentioned something else.  The Mayo doctor revealed that, "if Ruth didn't have cancer, I'd recommend back surgery."  Wow!  That was a shock.  I suppose she was talking about the spinal spur I have on that rt. lower side.  Whatever, the Lord is still in charge.

I have my good days and my bad ones during which the Lord is with me each and every day.  I thank you for your on-going prayers on my behalf.

Thankfully, another issue has been cleared up and I'm sleepiing better at night.  I asked the doctor what would be causing my constant coughing at night during which at times, I have to sit up to get my breath.  She saw on my record that I have exercise-induced asthma (I'v had it for over 30 years).  I have an inhaler when I need it.  She suggested that I use it right before I go to bed.  It works!  I am so please, no coughing now and I'm sleeping the night through, with sleeping pills that is.

Well, there you have it.  I'm presently working on the July/August issue of Gentle Doves.  The May/June issue has been mailed.  Our printer gave us 60 additional issues, so if you have a friend you think would enjoy reading it, please send updated address and zip code.  I'll send her/him the latest issue with a note from me.

I enjoy reading your notes, letters, emails, FaceBook comments and the like.

A promising verse from Scripture:  Matthew 8:7 (KJV)  "And Jesus said unto him, I will come and heal him."

Come Lord Jesus.

 4/30/10

Hi again readers,

My next health update will be when I see my local oncologist next Wednesday, the 5th of May.  Let me know if you have any prayer needs.

I want to share with you regarding getting close to Jesus.  Often times, in order for us to realize we need His presence, His immediate love and His overwhelming peace, we rush to the Bible and try to find something that will "get us there."  Now that isn't all that bad, take my word for it.  For those who have read my third book, My Gift to You, certainly know that I'm very much in tune with Scriptures and what it holds for the ones who regularly reads it.  But for those of us at times who just can't get anything out of the Holy Word, often cry out to another for help.

That happened yesterday when a friend who was under such stress called me and asked for help.  She told me she just couldn't find anything in the Bible to help her and as far as prayer, well forget it.  She asked me to pray for her and I did.  I was personally moved how the Holy Spirit prayed for her.  He told her to forget the Bible right now, that to simply rest her head in Jesus' lap and let His presence calm her down by giving Him all her concerns and to breathe in His holiness.

She told me that was similar to what someone told her at the church she goes to last Sunday, that to relax in the Lord.  What a confirmation for her.  Let's pray that this lady will fully give all her problems and stresses to the Lord by simply placing herself in His holy presence.  Also, that she makes a habit of it--relying on the Lord to take her burdens and make a way where there is no way.  We take a daily shower, why not bathe in Christ's presence each day?

Glory to God in the highest,

Ruth Olson <><

Hello again,

Here in part is Gail Kotz's letter to us:

"I'm so thankful for all the prayer that have been prayed for me.  I received cards of encouragement from people I don't even know.  One of the strange things is, when I was so sick with cancer, my mind was sick too.  I don't remember much from the first two weeks of December 2009; it was funny in a way.  I'm thankful that my husband Dan could see how sick I was to get me back to Methodist hospital in Rochester, MN.

"God gave me people to take care of me every step of the way.  It took me a long time to give control back to God.  I believe that we women take care of so many daily things and people.  I feel most men just don't get how much we do.  Since females are the nurturers, we get caught up in the "control issue."  To give God the reins can be hard and it's a daily thing.

"When I got back home from Methodist Hospital, I was sleeping but got up to go to the bathroom.  Half asleep, I'm sitting there and then 'fire' passed through me!  I woke up quickly and realized my tummy didn't hurt anymore and I was hungry!  I ate a peanut butter toast.  Yum!  It was 2 a.m. and I couldn't call anyone to share in my celebration.  So I thanked God and danced around the house and celebrated for an hour and went back to bed.  I knew that 'fire' was God's healing.

"On Sunday, May 9, I am speaking to our friendship forum on my faith story.  Two weeks ago, my doctor said there was no cancer!  I don't know my future but do know that God wants me to stay close and He'll reveal what He wants me to know.  Am I 100 percent healed?  Not sure, but I'm taking baby steps and leaning on God.  Love in Christ, Gail Kotz, Northfield, MN."

I will be putting Gail's letter in the July/Aug Gentle Doves for many more to be encouraged.  Thank you Lord Jesus for Gail's healing.

Dear Friends,

I have some good news about Gail Kotz.  Remember that she was suffering with cancer of the neck, lungs and stomach?  (See Ruth's update of 1/7/10.)

I just got word today from her aunt, Rita Capone, that Gail is completely cancer free!  She wants to let you all know who prayed for her, and wrote her scores of notes, etc. from this outreach from around the U.S.  Her aunt writes, "Please know that we appreciate every effort put forth by every caring Christian brother and sister."

Gail will be writing me soon a note that I will also share with you all.  She plans on giving her testimony at her church on Mother's Day.

How exciting is that!?  God bless you all.  Thank you Jesus for you precious healing power.

Hi again,

I was wondering why the Mayo Clinic wasn't calling me, so this morning I called my local doctor and she called him directly today.  Apparently, since they can't figure out what is wrong with the back, they want to wait until I can have radiation again as it's too soon now, just in case they find cancer on my lower right side of my back.  I already have a "hot" spot of cancer on my left side of my lower back, with no pain.  Thank you, Lord Jesus.

In the meantime, Jerry and I talked with our Alternative M.D. in the Twin Cities and of course he doen't deal with cancer patients, but his own personal opinion is that my pain is due to artithris in the back.

He determines this by the supplements I'm on that helps the pain.  Currently and for the past 1/2 year, I've been taking MSM Plus which is a dietary supplement of Methyl Sulfonyl Methane with Magnesium Ascorbate.  I've taken this at a very high dosage which my chiropractor O.K.s.  With that, I'm on Ibuprofen, 200 mg. 2 at each meal to reduce any inflammation, ordered by my oncologist.  Now, I'm on Coumadin, but they have regulated my dosage for this latter drug so I don't have to be concerned about my INR.

I am so blessed that the Lord has led me to this treatment for my back as it would be very painful without them.  I see my local Oncologist May 5 and will get my bone building IV along with blood work and a visit with her.

Again, thank you for all your concern and prayers.  I'm feeling them, that's for sure.  Let us pray for you.  Write me using "Concact Ruth" link.

I put on my website yesterday, "Read the Gospels; get to know Jesus personally."   I encourage you to read the Scriptures.  They're the living Word of God.

In His precious name,

Ruth Olson <><

 Dear Friends,

You probably wonder what is going on not hearing from me for some time.  Well, nothing really.  I still am waiting for Mayo Clinic to call me for an appointment with my Radiation Oncologist.

But, I must tell you some good news what has happened in the meantime.  Just the last several days, my pain in my lower right side of my back has lessen.  I'm still on pain and alternative medication, but that pain that I have suffered with so long has greatly been reduced.  I am thrilled about this, but I will still go to Mayo Clinic as I want to find out what exactly is going on with my back.

I can't thank you all enough for your on-going prayers.  I and my prayer partner, Hannelore, just today prayed for many with cancer.  We will continue to do so.  Our Lord and Great Physician, Jesus, loves us and wants us healed.  Keep going forward in that faith of
God.  He will provide what you need each and every day.  Just ask Him right now.  See how quickly He'll show you His everlasting love and provisions.  Not only for you but for those you dearly love.

Blessings from the Throne Room,

ruth olson <><

4/3/10

A wonderful Resurrection Sunday to all of you.  Remember, I'm on Facebook now under Ruth Olson.

Please read 3/14/10's update once again.  We now have $230.00 for our Pastor friend in Africa who so needs a generator.  We need $700 total.  Please help if you can.  Thanks so much for those of you who have been moved by the Lord to give.  He wrote recently saying that the postal office has put a fine on the last box of books I sent to him in January.  He refuses to pay the fine because he is not guilty of what they are accusing him of--not responding to their first notice that the box was there.  Pastor Keya goes to the postal office almost every day and they never told him the box was there.  Please pray against the evil that surrounds this man of God.  Demand that the Enemy, Satan, gives back what is Pastor Keya's and that he doesn't have to pay the fine.

Please pray also for me against my back pain, and that the Mayo Clinic will call and set up an appointment for me.

In Jesus' love,

Ruth Olson

3/24/10

Dear Readers,

My visit with my oncologist went well.  It's important to like your doctor and I truly like mine.  She always makes me feel like I'm her equal.  Of course there's no question who is the doctor, and that's why I trust her.  She gives me all the time to tell her what I think about my condition. That is so important to get your point across with a doctor who is treating you.

We talked about what's going on with me with the back pain I have.  The steroid plan I'm on this week hasn't helped any.  So, she suggested that it would be good for me to return to Mayo at Rochester to see what my radiation oncologist thinks about all the tests I've had.  They will call me for an appointment.

I want to thank those of you who prayed for this present steroid treatment I'm on.  I haven't had any side effects to speak of.  The Lord is so good and loves us all so much. Less we forget, no matter what is going on with you, the Lord will always love you.  You are ALWAYS loved in a way you'll never realize until you see Him face to face.  Place yourself completely in His hands, let Him cover with His strong arms.  As one writer puts it, "Let Him bury you into His chest."  He does know what He is doing.  Believe and receive.

Remember I'm on Facebook now.  Just type in Ruth Olson and you'll recognize my picture with my husband and click in.

Also, please reread 3/14/10's update.  Just scroll downward to read about the friends I've been writing to overseas.  They have some needs and we're getting some response from you readers.  Please join us to meet their needs.

Until next time,

Ruth Olson <><

=======================================

Hi Everyone,

My oncologist called today with the results of my MRI I had on Wednesday.  As you recall I have had back pain in in my rt. lower back for years now and they can never figure out if it is cancer or arthritis.

They found that there is a hot spot of inactive cancer in my left lower back and it has been there since 2005 when my rt. back pain started in.  The difference with this cancer they found, is that there are no holes in the bones as in my other cancer in my rt. pelvis, rt. femur, ft. hip and left arm.  And I have never had pain on my lower left side.  They will keep an eye on it.  This is all very strange.

My lower rt. back pain is "diffused cancer."  Who can explain what that means other than they don't know exactly where it is because the arthritis seems to be hiding it.  I also have what I call a spur on the right side of my spine rubbing on the area where my pain is.  I see my doctor this coming Wednesday and will ask her some more questions.

Already people are calling and encouraging me that they are praying.  One 's prayer is, "Enough is enough, Satan!"  Yes, I agree.

May our Lord and Savior show me what is holding up the healing.  In the meantime, I will be starting a substantial dose of steroids on Monday for 5 days.  If it isn't hurting by Wednesday, my doctor explained, then it isn't cancer (on the rt. side).  Let's pray accordingly.

Thank you again for praying.  The Lord is faithful and along with your needs, He will meet mine too.

Dear Friends,

I haven't written since the 4th of this month.  I hope all is well with you readers.  I'm receiving nice notes regarding you renewing Gentle Doves for 2010.  Thank you for that.  I also at the same time receive emails and the like from those of you suffering and having emotional pain and also physical discomfort.  Know that the Lord is with you.  Be patient in your suffering, much good will come out of it and it will be to the glory of the Lord.  Read Hebrews 10 beginning at verse 32 and pray the Holy Spirit will enlighten you regarding these verses through vs. 39.  I recommend David Wilkerson's newsletter with his last issue commenting on these verses.

This coming Tuesday, March 16, I will be having a MRI to compare with the 2008 MRI I had on my back.  They want to see again if there is any change since it's been hurting more lately.  I continue to take Holy Communion at times more than once each day as the Holy Spirit deems necessary and this I know is helping the back pain.

I want to bring up some important news.  I have been corresponding with several different people over seas via the website.  One such person is Pastor Zablon Keya, who with his wife serves the Lord in Kenya, Africa.  They are beautiful people and so wanted me to come and preach to them.  I informed him that preaching isn't my gifting and asked what I could do to help them from here.

They have many requests and I wonder if some of you would like to help.  We have been trying to get Christian literature and education materials for schools for them as this was his first request.  We have contacted Love Packages several times, but so far Pastor Keya hasn't received any for them.

He also needs prayer regarding those in the area who persecute him and his members because of the mighty Holy Spirit's moving in his parish.  Also needed, is prayer to come against the occult where he lives and serves.

Another need is a large generator which will cost in American dollars some $700.00.  We already of $100 toward this.  If you are interested in the giving of any amount to help us reach this goal, you can send a check or cash to this outreach: Ruth Olson Ministries, 30090 Hay Creek Trl., Red Wing, MN 55066.  It is tax deductible.  Make it out to Ruth Olson Ministries and in the memo of the check simply write "generator" or For Pastor Zablon.  I informed him (we talk on line about twice weekly) that he should not be looking for the money for months.  But with friends like you, maybe we can shorten the time.

So, if you would like to help out by prayer, or by contributing materials (I send him books often and will be happy to send any children's material in good condition if you can get them to me) or, by simply giving as the Lord leads you with some money, I know he and his wife and parish will be so delighted and deeply thankful to all of you.

May our Lord richly bless you all who read this report and keep you healthy and fearless as we serve Him with all our strength and boldness.

Here is an update on Betty's yesterday and how it went.  Thank you for praying for her.  Ruth Olson

"We are incredibly blessed to be a part of God's Family!  We've been encouraged by so many of our brothers and sisters in Christ telling us that they're interceding for Betty as she faces this latest challenge.  Our Father even provided a nurse who sat and prayed with us yesterday when they needed to stop the procedure for about 45 minutes because the pain was too much.

"The neurosurgeon began attaching the metal frame to her skull about 8 a.m. and that part was very painful.  The rest of the day was uncomfortable but tolerable and the procedure was finished around 4:30 p.m.  The metal frame was removed and she was able to home last night.

"Praise God for caring and compassionate doctors and nurses, and for the skills that He's given them.

"Pray that God will cause the radiation to destroy the cancer with minimal collateral damage to surrounding brain tissue.  Pray also for brain swelling to be minimal and controlled by the prescribed two weeks of Decadron (steroids).  Pray for protection from infection of the four points where the metal frame was attached to her skull.

"Pray for wisdom in regard to using the recommended oral chemo that has been shown to be effective, yet can be expected to produce really miserable side effects.

"The Lord has been so gracious to us; please praise Him with us for the countless ways in which He pours out His grace on us all."

Dear Friends,

Here an update on my friend Betty.  (See below.)  I just got this report this a.m.

"As a result of meeting with a neurosurgeon, radiology on Monday, we made the decision for Betty to have Sterotatic Radiosurgery on Wednesday the 3rd.  There are two cancer lesions in her brain--one on the right side, and one on the left.  The procedure directs tightly focused radiation beams to destroy the cancer cellos and involves a long day to complete.  We begin at 8 a.m. with the neurosurgeon attaching a metal head frame to her skull.  This is used throughout the day to hold her head perfectly still during the various procedures.  Much of the day is taken up by all the very complex and precise measurements they make to direct the beams of radiation from various angles.  Depending on how it all goes the doctors anticipate the whole procedure being finished sometime between 4:30 and 7:00 p.m."

Please pray accordingly as the Holy Spirit leads you.  Thank you.

Hi Again,

I'm writing about a friend, Betty Baanna from St. Cloud, MN.  Betty had breast cancer years ago and in 2001 she was diagnosed with bone cancer.  Now they have discovered cancer in her brain and also in her back.  Let's gather in spirit around Betty and lift her up to the Lord Jesus Christ that she may be healed.  As I understand it, Betty is in a lot of pain, having migraine-like headaches.

If you would like to write her, here's her address: Betty Baanna, 264 Waite Ave. S., St. Cloud, MN 56301.  I'm sure she would be very happy to hear from you if you are led by the Holy Spirit.  Let her know that you know Ruth Olson of Gentle Doves.

God bless and keep you safe in His loving arms complete with the assurance that He totally loves you and is pouring His grace upon you.

Dear Friends,

It's been some time since I've written an update.  The cortisone shot took the edge off the pain for about 2 weeks in my back.  March 16, I'll have another MRI to compare the last one in 2008.  They can't figure out exactly what is causing the pain.  Please continue to pray for me if led by the Holy Spirit.  If they find more cancer then they can give me radiation treatment which greatly helped the initial pain in my groin (pelvis area) when they discovered I had bone cancer.  Whatever it is, please agree with me in prayer that Jesus will take it away.

On March 20 I'll be speaking at St. Cloud, MN, Women's Aglow.  (Please check information on "Ruth's Speaking Schedule."  I will need your prayers and God's strength.  The Lord wants me to go out and share His healing word.  Pray that many will come expecting God to move in their lives.  Pray for a powerful faith to fill the room because without faith it's impossible to please God.  He's the rewarder of them who diligently seek Him.  (See Romans 11:6.)  I know He will answer many prayers during that meeting.

God's peace and joy be yours.  If you feel "empty" know that Jesus is right with you and will never leave you.  Keep going forward in Him.  He loves you.

Hi again,

I wanted to tell you I think I'm getting relief from a lower right back pain that I've had since 2005.  Whenever I would have an MRI or PET or bone scan, the diagnosis of that particular pain was "arthritis."

Finally the pain got so bad that after this last bone scan, the oncologist and the radiologist both recommended that I see an orthopedic surgeon to have a cortisone shot in that local area as they thought again it was arthritis.  Jerry and I went today and found (we hope) what this pain is.

This doctor gave me three choices.  1.  The pain is from a tumor which is very near the site--a referred pain.  2.  The pain is arthritis pain (but he didn't think so) and if so, I would have to lie on my stomach and with live x-ray going, and he would carefully select the spot where to inject the medication.  3.  The pain is from bursitis (inflammation of the bursa covering the bone in that spot) and he could give me the medication with me showing him exactly where the pain is.  (That wasn't difficult because when he pressed in that spot, I jumped with pain.)

We chose the latter which he recommended because the pain is so localized and the other pain mentioned in the other choices isn't necessarily in only one spot.  It was over before I knew it and now there is just an "ache."  I'm to return in 2 weeks to let him know if and when the pain has subsided.

Please friends, continue to pray for me for this particular pain to go away.  Also, the doctor showed me on the scan where this "new" cancer is in my right femur.  It can't be denied, however, the Lord knows it's there and with the touch of His healing hand it will be gone.

Thank you so much and may the Lord bless and keep you all healthy and safe.

Hi everyone,

We're still hearing of persons discovering that they have cancer.  It never seems to stop.  Everyone is affected; all have someone that they know, or have a loved one in their family with cancer.  We pray for you all for the Lord to reach out and answer your questions, calm your hearts, and lift you up to pour His love on you and your loved one.

We lift up Gil Goehrs ' wife, Sherry, and their family. Gil, Sherry's husband just passed away yesterday a.m. after his battle with cancer.  Praise the Lord, he's with the Lord now.

Judi Holter of Houston, MN, just called me today telling me of their friend, Roger, who just found out he has cancer and has only a week to live.  Please lift Roger and his wife, Nancy, up to the Lord asking Him to pour His grace and mercy and healing on them each and their family.

We currently pray for 23 persons with cancer.  It is our privilege.  Before we start praying, this is what we pray for all the hundreds we pray for weekly:

God, please be with those whose lives are difficult and filled with pain and sadness.  Please minister in personal and mighty ways to every believer with a crushed spirit.  Dear Father, please rekindle the hope of every discouraged Christian.  Empower them as they hold on to their faith.  Strengthen each weary and burdened heart.  Give them a renewed sense of hope in your presence in Jesus' name.  Amen.    (Source of prayer unknown, but it's a good one.)

As of today, My book, A Gift to You  Encouragement During a Cancer Crisis, is at A Fitting Place, 209 Sibley St., Hastings, MN 55066.  They carry merchandise for women who have had a mastectomy and much more.  I highly recommend them to you.  Call (651) 480-3578 for an appointment.

For those of you who are interested in purchasing this book, please contact me on my website under "How to Contact Ruth," or mailing me at: 30090 Hay Crk. Trl., or by calling at: (651) 388-2206.  There are those now who are buying enough for their Bible Studies etc. for the purpose of "preparing those who may have cancer someday."  (You may also purchase this book on line at any Book store site such as Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble book store website etc.)

Blessings from above,

Ruth Olson <><

P.S.  Have you seen at the post office the breast cancer stamp booklet?  "As you may be aware, the US Postal Service has the "Fund the Cure" stamp to help fund breast cancer research.  The stamp was designed by Ethel Kessler of Bethesda, Maryland.  It is important that we take a stand against this disease that affects so many of our Mothers, Sisters, Friends, Coworkers, and Spouses of Coworkers.

"Instead of the normal 44 cents for a stamp, this one costs 55 cents.  The additional 11 cents will go to breast cancer research.  A "normal book costs $8.80.  This one is only $11.00.  It takes a few minutes in line at the Post Office and means so much.  If all stamps are sold, it will raise an additional $35,000,000 for this vital research.  Just as important as the money is our support.  What a statement it would make if the stamp outsold the lottery this week.  What a statement it wold make that we care!"

Thank you friends for praying!  The Lord heard our cry.  Not only was the hard table tolerable, but the radiologist actually came in to see me with the report.  I have NO NEW cancer.  All glory to God who hears our prayers and answers them.  My pain remains that of arthritis pain in the lower back, and I can tolerate that knowing it is not any new cancer in my back.  The pelvis and tip of right hip and left humerus and the right femur is where the cancer sits.  It has NOT spread.  I am a happy camper.  (I must admit tho, I didn't know it was in my right femur.)

All glory and honor to our Lord and Savior, our healer, deliverer and ever present help in need.

Dear Friends,

A prayer from Linda Weber:

"We ask in your Holy Name that on Friday as Ruth is going through her bone scan, that you hold her close.  Keep her safe, comfortable, and secure in the knowledge that YOU are with her always.  May she be at ease through this procedure, allowing the Lord to assist her and the medical staff.  Lord, we know you are caring and gentle and our concerns are given to the Highest.  Amen. "

Thanks, Linda.  I so appreciate your prayer.

Here's an example how the Holy Spirit works through prayer:

A friend emailed me and told me that she talked to a mutual friend and while she was doing stretching exercises earlier, she prayed for her friend's feet because her pain reminds her that her friend is in pain.  Her friend replied, "Oh isn't that something? Because when my feet get to me, I think of what Ruth is going through and I pray for her."

How many times has that happened to you with your prayer life?  I bet a lot.  My friend added in the email, "I guess that's body life, huh?"  Sure enough, that IS body life in Christ Jesus.

Thanks for your prayers.  I'll update this as soon as I find out what they find.

Dear Faithful Friends,

I was at my oncologist today and I was telling her that I am having so much discomfort in my lower right back where my diagnosed arthritis is.  I've been taking MSM for about 1 year now for it and it's always kept the pain in control.  However, since the last 1 1/2 weeks, the discomfort has gotten worse and the alternative medication is not working as well.

She checked the scan I had at ER, when I had the kidney stone recently, and the radiologist wrote that there may be cancer in my back, although on the scan it was hard to see.  So this Friday, the 29th, I will have a bone scan.  Please pray that I can tolerate lying on my back as it has always been painful in other bone scans I've had.  The appointment is at 11 am. and it will take 1/2 hour.  If I do have cancer there, I will probably have radiation once again.  It takes away the pain so fast, and in the meantime, the doctor is keeping me comfortable as best she can.  I thank the Lord for this doctor, she is very compassionate.

I praise the Lord that once again I am able to hold up His Holy Name as He covers me with His love and His precious blood.  My hand is held in His, my head lies gently on His chest, and my spirit is singing songs of joy.  What could it be better?

P. S.  Ina Murray asked me for the young man's name and address who is in charge of the church's library at his church in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.  I thought maybe some of you would like to send Christian books to him also as I have been doing.  I must tell you to be prepared because the shipping is expensive.  Pack in small boxes and maybe only ship that first box so you can estimate how much for a larger box.

His name and address is:

KIassahun Ayele

P.O. Box 50

Code 1029

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Please add a note that you know me and that's where you got his name.  He will be so greatful.

1/24/10

 Dear Friends,

I called this just an "update" because I didn't know where else to put this good news.  I have been keeping in touch with a young man in Ethiopia named Kassahun Ayele.  He requested for used Christian books as he is in charge of their small church library there in Addis Ababa.  I sent him 2 boxes which included copies of my own books I've written.

He just today emailed me and asked if he could put into print in his native language my first book, Jesus Loves You This I Know.  This is what he wrote: "This book can be an instrument for delivering thousands of disappointed and downcast people here in my country also.  I know there are multitudes that need the love of God in their lives."

Naturally I said yes and he will send me a copy.  Rejoice with me that this book is getting out there to help many in his area of the world.  Please pray that the Lord will guide him in translating the book and that he will have the funds to print it and then get it out among the people.  May the Lord be glorified in all of the preparation and the distribution of the book.

Hi again Friends,

I wanted to pass on a prayer from Jeanne Pardue of Midland, TX, who sent me this today.

"I'm praying that God's love will consume you--pour over your body and fill you with strength, healing, and peace!  I know God will hold you tightly in His arms of love and comfort you.  Our prayers are bombarding God's throne of mercy and love, and Jesus is ever interceding for you!  He healed you 2,000 years ago when He took those stripes on His back!  It's already done!  We just have to pray for that healing to manifest and it will!"                                         -In His Holy Name, Jeanne Pardue.

As I have told you before, use this prayer and the others listed below for yourself and place your name, or your loved one's name, to claim what is yours in Christ Jesus.

Thank you all for your endless praying for me.  I can feel them as they work within.  I go to my oncologist this coming Wednesday and will report on Thursday (or before) of next week what is happening.

Are you climbing that joy ladder?  Tell your soul (mind, will, and emotions) to be joyful and the Lord will take care of the rest.

Blessing from above,

Ruth Olson <><

1/19/10

Dear Friends,

Well, you'll never guess what happened last night.  I had such pain in lower stomach and lower left back that I had to wake my husband up to take me into the E.R.  They gave me pain medication by IM and IV and I felt much better.  After a scan, they found a kidney stone.  I was amazed.  The good news was that it was just ready to be discarded and so I had gone through the worse part.

But I want to tell you what the Lord did.  On the way, we hit a deer and the Lord protected us from going off the road.  All the way to the E.R.  I prayed that no other patient would be there because I didn't think I could wait with the pain being so bad.  When we got there, not only there were no patients, but a doctor we know quite well was working.  Praise the Lord.  We were able to be home in just 1 1/2 hours.  And, I might add, I slept like a baby.

Today I passed the stone with hardly any discomfort.  The Lord is good.  I knew I have very large gallstones and thought that was the problem, but never a kidney stone.

Thank you, Lord Jesus, for constantly watching over us and granting our requests of help when we suffer physical and emotional pain.  Help those, Lord, who are suffering so now.  Answer their prayers, send your angels to watch over them and their loved ones.  We bless you and honor you.  In Jesus' name.

Ruth Olson

A beautiful prayer from a dear friend,

Lord, my heart is breaking for Ruth and Jerry. . .and yet, Ruth is right--You are in control and have a best plan for each of us.  We can trust You completely Lord and know that when we get to heaven, we will agree with everything You have allowed on earth.  Thank You for allowing us to live for You, to glorify You so others are encouraged and the unsaved attracted to You and Your beautiful Son!

May Ruth be focused on Your desires for her Lord.  May her discomfort be minimal and her cancer stabilized.  May Your wisdom flood the minds of all her doctors and caretakers.  May she have many reasons at the end of each day to praise and thank You!  May she seize every opportunity to witness for You completely guided by the Holy Spirit so Your fruit abounds from her life.  Thank You Lord, for loving us and giving us the privilege of being Your reps here so we can have a part in advancing Your kingdom here on earth by your wonderful grace!

Amen and amen.  (This prayer is also prayed for those of you who are suffering in any crisis.  Simply put your name or your loved one's name.)

1/7/10

Dear Friends,

So how is this New Year working out for you?  A breath of fresh air?  Or perhaps the same heavy heart?  Either way the Lord is with us.  Here is a thought that will lift you up:

Let Daily Prayers Dissolve Your Cares

We all have cares and problems we cannot solve alone, but if we go to God in prayer we are never on our own.  And if we try to stand alone, we are weak and we will fail.

But God is always greatest when we're helpless, lost, and small.  And no day is unmeetable if on rising our first thought is to thank God for the blessings, that His loving care has brought.

For there can be no failures or hopeless, unsaved sinners, if we enlist the help of God who makes all losers winners.

So meet Him in the morning and go with Him through the day and thank Him for His guidance each evening when you pray.

From Angels Unaware.

An update on Gail Kotz, Northfield, MN.  Gail is sick with cancer in her neck, lungs and stomach.  Her aunt recently wrote thanking all of you who sent Gail a get-well card and notes of good health to her.

Please continue to pray for her.  She will continue chemotherapy: on one week, off for 23 days, for another year.  Please as led by the beloved Holy Spirit, pray and send an encouraging note to her at: Gail Kotz, 2445 Cotton Ln., Northfield, MN 55057.  Let her know you get Gentle Doves, so she knows how you are connected to this outreach.

There are so many who need our encouragement.  May this new year bring healing to those have prayed and prayed for their illness or a loved one's from our Lord Jesus Christ.

I am not in remission as I thought.  The doctor told me they intend to keep me comfortable and with the next bout, it may come very mean and aggressive.  But since this cancer is a very slow growing one, I should have many years of good health.  And with you all praying, agreeing that it will not reappear "mean and aggressive," or reappear at all, the Lord surely will hear the prayers and touch my body.

He is doing that with many now, glory to Father God, for He gets all the glory.  Write in and tell me your story of how the Lord has healed you.

Until next time,

Blessings from the throne room,

Ruth Olson <><

12/31/09

Dear Friends,

This is the last day of the old year going out and within a blink of an eye, the new comes in.  What does it hold for all of us?  What does it hold for each individual?

Zephaniah prophesied to the remnant of Israel, "Never again will you be haughty on my holy hill.  But I will leave within you the meek and humble, who trust in the name of the Lord.  The remnant of Israel will do no wrong; they will speak no lies, nor will deceit be found in their mouths.  They will eat and lie down and no one will make them afraid."  Zephaniah 3:11b-13.

Of course this word was given to God's children at another time, however, I believe we can learn from this word things for ourselves to watch for in the New Year.

With the help of the Holy Spirit, walk in meekness and humbleness.  Remember, meekness does not mean weakness, but strength through obedience.  (See Philippians 2:6-8.)  And God cannot give us "humbleness," we must strive for this ourselves.  Let's watch our words.  Don't speak negative words or words of discouragement; but rather speak promising words expressing faith in the Lord in all things.  (See Philippians 4:8.)  Be alert to not "do wrong" when speaking, especially strive not to be deceitful. As a result, when we lie down to sleep, nothing will bother us as we reflect on the day spent.

I'll let you read what happens next in Zephaniah 3:14-20.  What beautiful words spoken over the remnant of the believers.   Make it secure in your heart what the Lord does when we do the above this coming year, according to this prophecy.  "Don't let your hands hang limp."  (3:16.)  The Lord promised sorrows removed; He'll deal with all who oppressed you; He will rescue the lame and you who have been scattered.  He will restore your fortunes before your very eyes."

This is only the half of it.  Read where the Lord is mighty to save and takes great delight in you, quieting you down with His love, and rejoicing over you with singing.  We can do it with the help of the Holy Spirit.

What a year it will be!

I saw my oncologist today.  My cancer is not in remission as I thought.  Whether in remission, or not in remission, the Lord is in control.  It makes no difference to Him because He heals totally and completely.

I appreciate your prayers as you lift up many others who suffer in pain and sorrow around the world.  I have no pain and have a good life in the Lord facing me for many years to come.

As I say this, please pray for a friend of ours, Dennis Betcher, who is in St. Mary's hospital, Rochester, MN, with cancer in many areas of his body.  His spirit and soul is whole, his body is weak.  "Please Lord, be with Dennis and his family, and heal him completely, causing him to rise up with healing in his wings.  In Jesus, I pray.  Amen."

Happy New Year in the Lord Jesus Christ our beautiful Savior, Deliverer, Healer, Mighty in battle and Ruler.

12/22/09

Dear Friends,

Greetings this Christmas week.  I pray your festivities this time of year bring Jesus in full focus in your family, friends, and business, and that your light will shine for all to see Who you believe in.

I have been reading the book, The Kingdom, Power, and Glory by Chuck and Nancy Missler and I highly recommend it.  When I finish it, I will post it on the "Recommended Books" link.

I was watching Sid Roth's TV program, "It's Supernatural", on my computer today.  I don't know if you have ever heard of him.  Actually, I never have before but now   somehow I have been getting it weekly and am truly enjoying it.  The one thing the Holy Spirit has been teaching us at our fellowship is about Holy Communion and how taking the bread has Jesus' healing for us which comes through Christ's suffering for us by the scourging of His back, and the crown on His head.

When we partake of Holy Communion and the bread, we are believing that Jesus not only died for our sins, but He came to heal us also through His suffering.  ". . . with His stripes we are healed."

Sid Roth also pointed out this: "Don't miss your healing because you're waiting for a miracle."  He shared that there are two ways of healing by the Lord.  The first is by the gradual healing which is simply called: healing.  The other way is by the sudden healing which is known as a miracle.

Keep praying and keep taking Holy Communion at home.  I take it when I take my medications three times daily, and this is recommend by Sid also.  Also, don't take it as a ritual, but rather take it by the power of the Holy Spirit.  He will guide you when to take it and how to pray to the Father for healing.

God bless your Christmas,

Ruth Olson <><

k.PleasePlPleas hard to read for some.)

I have been reading the book, The Kingdom, Power, and Glory, The Overcomer's Handbook, by chuck and Nancy Missler, publisher, The King's High Way Ministries, Inc. 2007.  I highly recommend it as it covers so much to help us walk as Christians and Overcomer's in the Lord.  When I finish it, I will put information on "Recommended Books" link.

12/11/09

Dear Friends,

The following is from Chuck D. Pierce and Glory of Zion International Ministries.  It is a prophecy from the Lord through Chuck.  It was part of an Elijah List through email.  I have permission to put it here so you too can benefit from it as I did.  His email is: chuckp@glory-of-zion.org.

Prophetic Word of the Lord

"The Lord is saying, 'Come up here and I will show you things you have never seen before.  Do not come up in the old way.  In this last season you strove in what you did, so do not try to follow your old way of sacrificing.  Let Me put a new, fresh sacrifice in your heart and hand.  Do not observe the heavenly realm around you in the old way.

"I will press out a new portion in you; there is a new measure of faith and vision that I will open to you.  You will hear one word from My mouth and faith will explode.  The enemy has tried to attach to your failures and mistakes from the last season, but I will remove them from you.  I will clothe you with a new mantle and you will wear the shine of Heaven.

"Some of you are lagging behind in the old because of your emotional need.  You are refusing to come to the table and sup with Me.  I have positioned you one way, but you are still longing to be established in another way.  Come up!  Get in position and don't look back.  Come up!  Get positioned and don't turn back.  You have been seated with Me in heavenly places.  Come UP, receive this new mantle and go back.

"Shut every door and keep out the devil.  Block his forward movement.  Do not let certain things come with you into your land of promise.  Express thanksgiving with your will.  I will fill you with new strength if you will just shut the door and say, 'That will not cross over this season.'  I will end this season for you in surprising ways and you will move with new confidence into the place I have positioned for you.

"I am shutting the door on vain imaginations.  Get control for them by the Spirit and move into what I have for you.  This is a time for your eyes to be opened to My plan.  I am going to show you how the devil has been working to subtly distract and keep you out of victory.  More importantly, I will show you his plan to keep you from entering into a mindset for victory.  When you recognize his strategy to block you, say, 'I have shut the door on you.  I am choosing to move forward in a new way!'

"Do not belabor the last season or what the enemy did to you.  Do not belabor how you've been ensnared.  Shut the door and say, 'Now I see.'

"Move on.  I have been taking you through emotional stresses and strains.  I am straining out that which has been vain, causing you to have sure vision.  I can cause you to see and be prepared to advance quickly with Me.  I am readying you to move forward into new opportunities.  Read and train yourself with Me.  I am ready for you to shut the door of LOST HOPE and open and enter into another door of HOPE REALIZED.

"Release your reins from the past.  Release your reins from the past!  Some of you have moved on but are still holding a rein from the past for security. This rein is affecting your kidneys. The power of its directing force is causing spirits of fear to attach to your inward parts and stop the river of confidence that I have for your future.  You think that you are tidying up past mistakes and trying to work out missteps, but that rein from the past is actually pulling you in a wrong direction.

"LET GO of the reins from your past and I will ease your way and accelerate you into a new path.  I will bring things into your path so you can clearly see what is still trying to pull on you.  There are still pulls, there are still tendrils, there are still tentacles, and there are still reins that are keeping you from hearing Me say, 'GET UP AND GO.'

"Like a horse, I am slapping you on the behind and saying, 'Get up!  We must advance more quickly.  We have much ground to cover in this earth and many atmospheres to change.  We have transformational assignments waiting.'

"Therefore, let go, be transformed and renewed, and move with Me."

Also of 12/11/09, a prayer for you and me.

I receive some written out prayers through letters and I want to share this one from Jeanne Narita of Binghamton, N.Y. with you.  Please put your name in place of mine and believe that the Lord will heal you.  Jeanne I know has great faith, and combined with your faith and mine, we will expect the Lord to take action on your behalf.

"Lord, my very special sister Ruth needs your provision and blessing.  May You be her sufficiency in every area and may her body be miraculously healed so no disease remains.  May her testimony be a source of blessing to many.  Thank you, Lord."

Thank you, Jeanne.

God bless you all during this beautiful and meaningful season of Christmas.

Wonderful news for me, dear friends,

The nurse called me today and told me that my "cancer markers" are now normal!

I forgot to ask if that included the cancer found in my upper left arm.  I will see the doctor on the 30th of this month and will ask her.  But if that's the case, as the cancer markers. a blood test, show if there is cancer in the body anywhere, I am cancer free or at least the cancer is in total remission.  This blood work doesn't show where the cancer is located if the blood markers are abnormal, but I expect if the test is correct, I do NOT have cancer in my left arm either.  Or at least the cancer now is a small amount that it doesn't show up on the test.

But to make sure, I will ask the doctor on the 30th.  I might add here that some hospitals/cancer clinics do not put much trust in "blood cancer markers" tests, but in my case, this blood test has always proved correct.  But if your doctor doesn't use this test, don't be concerned.  There are other ways they can test if the body has cancer.

In the meantime, we can rejoice for it is with all of your concern and prayers, and His great mercy, that the Lord has healed me.  I have the faith that if He heals one, He has mercy on others.  Keep believing for your loved ones.  Inform us of those who are suffering so we can add our prayers also.

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."  Galatians 6:9

Continue to lift me up to the Lord that my "holes" in my pelvis will be renewed and that cancer will not return and if some is still present, that it will never spread.  Please also keep in your prayers that I will not fall during this Christmas season of much snow.

Dear Friends,

Do you ever feel "down"; a feeling that sometimes you can't shake from your mind?  I have and it's no fun.  But one has to make an effort to pull away from those thoughts.  Make a choice to not take that pathway leading to destruction.  WE must do it.

II Corinthians 10:5 says, "We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ."

If we keep imaging things happening to us and let our minds wander down a lifeless road, it will be a trail we will regret taking.  It is full of rocks where one can stumble ending in despair, having no hope.

Your Father God is right there with you.  He will never fail you nor forsake you.  Prove Him.  Put Him in your situation where you just can't function anymore.  Call upon Him; He will rescue you and you will have a testimony for others to be saved from destruction.

It must start with you.  He is about saving others through you.  That's why the Enemy, Satan, is working so against you.  You must rise up with His glory in your wings.  Christ Jesus will save you, and you will glorify in Him.  Put your hand in His.  He will never let go.

"Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know."  Jeremiah 33:3 NIV

Do it now.  He will answer your call.  He is waiting for you to call upon Him.  He will help by defeating the enemy in your life.  He loves you so very very much. More than anyone else living.  He is waiting.  His love is endless and it begins with YOU

All you have to do is ask the Lord to help you.  I know He will; He has me and He is no respecter of persons.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for letting me know you will be praying for Gail.  (See below update.)  I haven't heard anything, but I would guess she is starting treatment.

I saw my oncologist yesterday and all seems to be well.  She took an x-ray of my pelvis and nothing has changed.  The holes are still there. I still have a touch of pain.  The doctor commented that I should expect some discomfort as I have "a hole in my bone."  Just imagine, holes where there should be none.  And so little discomfort.  All glory to God.  We changed some drugs so maybe I can get some sleep.  Now that the snow is falling, I am very careful of walking and having a sure footage.  It reminds me of Ephesians 4:27, ". . .do not give the devil a foothold."

I'm receiving cards from many of you.  Thank you so much for your prayers and concern.  Let me know your prayer needs, so I can lift you up to the Lord.

P.S.  I have some who wonder where the newsletter, or what is called the Gentle Doves magazine, when they get into my website.  The only thing that is from my written newsletter is the page 2 where I write something and where you can read it on the website.

Because I don't have the entire magazine of 19 pages on the site is for two reasons: 1.  Many on the mailing have no computer and 2.  The articles that are in my written magazine I have to get permission to use on the website and many authors are not willing to give that permission.  They will let one use it in a written form, but not on any website.

If you are interested in the written Gentle Doves which comes per "snail mail", simply go to the "contact Ruth" link and give me your full address.  Only one donation of any size is required yearly to remain on mailing.  And you can make that donation at any time, although we do appreciate it early in the year.

12/3/09

 Good early morning every one,

I would imagine you are preparing for the celebration of our Lord's birth--Christmas!  I'm not going all out at putting decorations around in my home this year.  I seem to be worn out just thinking about it, so will wait until next year, if the Lord tarries.

I am going to ask you readers a favor.  I know you each have your own list of prayers for those you love, those you come in contact with daily, and others who the Lord brings to your mind.

This involves the latter.  I received a call from a woman who lives in the Chicago area and she told me about her niece whom she has over the years brought up because her sister, Gail's mom, passed away.  Gail now is at Mayo clinic; actually the time when her aunt called me, she was having a bone biopsy.  As it happens, Gail has cancer in her neck, her lungs and her stomach.  The doctors will decide with the biopsy, as in my case, how they will treat her.

I believe I got this idea from the Holy Spirit and if you are moved by Him, please obey and let's surround Gail with loving support and prayers on her behalf.  I don't personally know her; you don't either.  But her aunt asked me if I would pray which we did immediately.  The idea from the Lord is that anyone reading this would send her a card to let her know you have lifted her up to the Throne Room in Heaven.  You certainly don't have to, but if you are reminded by the Lord to, let's all do it.  I believe she will be greatly encouraged.

Her address is:  Gail Kotz, 2445 Cotton Ln., Northfield, MN 55057.

Let her know that you know me.  That way she will put things together as I have written her and sent her my book on encouragement during cancer along with a copy of the last issue of Gentle Doves.

Today, the 2nd, I go see my Oncologist and have the monthly blood work and my IV for bone strengthening.  I believe I will receive a good report and will let you know.  Keep praying, dear friends, as moved by God, that the cancer in remission bill NOT spread and that the cancer in my left upper arm will be taken away by our Lord in healing me completely.

Blessings from above,

Ruth Olson <><

Hi again friends,

I'm always pleased when I find out people are reading this update.  I want to tell you readers that I am feeling well.  The cancer in my pelvis and tip of the right hip is in remission.  The doctors say that if it doesn't spread, I will have a good ten years of life.  The cancer in my left upper arm is "being watched" to see what it will do.  Occasionally I have to take a pain pill but that's only because I have overdone it for the day.  Nothing to get concerned about.

I see my doctor the 2nd of December again for blood work and for my IV that strengthens my bones.

I want to wish everyone a very fruitful Thanksgiving.  By that I mean that your day will be filled with joy and gratefulness for all what the Lord has done for you.  My husband and I will be especially thankful for our 48 years of marriage we celebrate on Tuesday, November 24th.

I also want to remind you of my book, "My Gift to You, Encouragement During a Cancer Crisis."  It would be a very good book for one who has just discovered she has cancer; also a excellent book for a caregiver.  It's packed full of wonderful Scripture and is a small enough book that you can slip it into your purse and read while waiting for an appointment etc.  The Words of the Bible will encourage you and build you up.  For example, these words of the Lord, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest"  (Matthew 11:28) should not be taken likely.  He loves you so much and offers His hand of comfort and love to you.  Simply reach out and let Him hold your hand and the "rest" in Him will follow.

In Jesus' name and righteousness,

ruth olson <><

 Hi Friends,

I received a letter today from Jan Waltner from Duluth, MN.  She has a prayer group that meets in her home.  (If I'm not mistaken, Jan is battling with cancer, so please keep her in prayer also.  I will update this, if I am wrong.)

What is unique about this note is that each one of the ladies who pray together, sent me a personal note of prayer in the letter. What a wonderful idea for any of you who are in such a group, touched by the Holy Spirit, to send on to others who so need to learn that you are praying for them.

I thank each one of them and all of you reading this, who have taken the time to put your prayers into comforting words for me.  May the Lord bless each and every one of you.

Here's a beautiful encouraging thought Pastor James and Linda Roberson from Knoxville, TN, sent me today.  It's for all of you.

"Whatever your cross, whatever your pain, there will always be sunshine after the rain.  Perhaps you may stumble, perhaps even fall; but God's always ready to answer your call.  He knows every heartache, sees every tear, a word from His lips can calm every fear.  Your sorrow may linger, throughout the night, but suddenly vanish by dawn's early light.  The Savior is waiting, somewhere above, to give you grace and send you His love."

I hope it touches your heart of hearts. It surely did mine.  I'm doing so well these days and I know it's the prayers I feel from you out there lifting me to the Lord for complete healing.  God is faithful.

Hi again,

I wanted to thank Joyce Wada of Edina, MN, for the beautiful poem she wrote for me.  I'm happy to share it with you.

When it comes--what's really new?  The sky is still just as blue.

God's love holds to our hand, cause after all we're in the band.

Whatever it is, whatever we face, God pours out His grace upon grace.

He's gone ahead of what we see, even tho' we may say, "How can it be?!"

What really counts in all of time is all we've known on the Vine.

Walking the Earth, to praise in Heaven we are forever God's salt and leaven.

Praise Him here--praise Him there.  Healing is His and God is Fair.

His love showers us whatever the stage; it clutches our heart, whatever the phase.

He's all in all and He's made us His own.  After all, life's all about going home!

-Joyce was one of the ladies who shared about her husband in my book, "My Gift to You."

Hi everyone,

A friend wrote me today after reading in Gentle Doves about my health.  She read this entire update and I thought I would too to see how far the Lord has brought me to good health.

I'm amazed to think of how fast He did just that.  I'm praising the Lord for my speedy recovery from such pain as I had.  The cancer is at bay and all is well.  I attribute this to your many prayers and also me taking communion 3 times daily.  The Lord is healing me slowly but surely.  As the doctor said, the cancer I have is a very slow growing one and she believes that I will live a good life for 10 years or so, if we don't have complications such as it spreading.  Please pray accordingly.

I went to see the physical therapist today for some strengthening exercises keeping my muscles from atrophy.  It was fun to see how she was able to show me some as I wondered if the pain would be bad.  So far, so good.  No pain.  These exercises will help me be more active without having to sit and rest between cleaning the house and doing other things.

I'm climbing that joy ladder with each day feeling good.  I received a call from Inger Katz of Laporte, MN tonight.  Some of you may remember her husband, Art, a solid teacher of the Word of God, and especially having a heart for the Jewish people.  We talked about her double mastectomy about 1 1/2 years ago.  If any of you are going through the decision to not have chemotherapy or any drug therapy after having a mastectomy, she would like to talk with you to encourage you to build up your immunity and not tear it down with such drugs.

Each of us are different as I point out in my book, "My Gift to You, Encouragement During a Cancer Crisis."  The Lord may be leading you in the direction He led Inger.  You can contact her at 1-218-335-6206 or write her at: Inger Katz, Rt. 2, Box 183, Laporte, MN 56461.  She is doing fine and is well, but has arthritis bad in the hands and fingers.  If led, please pray for her.  Her husband, Art, died some 3 years ago I believe, and she has written a booklet on her life with Art.  It will be out before Christmas.  I will give you more information on this as it is relayed to me.

May our Lord continue to reach down and touch the many who are dealing with a tragedy, physical or mental pain, a loss of a loved one, illness and yes, doubt.  He loves us so much and often the above circumstances can be so overwhelming that we forget this precious truth from Scripture that He lives and will take care of you:

"To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy--to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore!  Amen."  Jude 24,25

Some emails I received after updating early a.m.  (Read update below.)

"Shalom,

"That is neat how the medicine acts as a shield.  "He shall cover you with His feather, and under His wings you shall take refuge, His truth shall be your shield and buckler." (Psalm 91:4)  The buckler is a small shield.  The Lord works in mysterious ways.  We thank You Lord for the double shield. . . Your Truth being the big one and the Zometa (IV medication for Ruth.  See update below.) being another."

Tiffany Ann, Burnt Hills, NY  (You can read about Tiffany Ann's ministry by getting into "Links to Christian web sites here on your left.)

Another email today:

"Your updates do continue to be just that--UP.  Wonderful progress and the Spirit leads you on.  You continue to be in my thoughts and prayers."
Linda from Hager City, Wisconsin.

"Dear Ruth, God bless you!  I was just reading your update.  I pray our Lord will heal you completely and shower His love on you.  When I read your updates, I feel the love of the Lord."  Kathy, Red Wing, MN

 Thank you dear friends,

For those of you just started to read this update, it begins at the bottom and works it way up, up, up.

Dear Friends,

I went to see my oncologist today and she answered some more of my questions.  If you wonder about things while you have cancer, write the questions down and take them with you as you visit with your doctor.  Most of us who have had cancer, get to take Zometa, an infusion given to strengthen one's bones.  She explained to me that this medication surrounds the cancer keeping it from spreading less than if it isn't given.  So that's always good news.  My particular type of cancer is slow growing, so they will be able to catch any spreading and treat it quickly.

I was fortunate to sit by a fellow believer, while having my infusion, whom Jerry married his wife and him years ago.  He is my "hero" when it comes to fighting the dreaded disease.  He believes without a doubt that it's the prayers that is keeping him steady each day; prayers the Lord is answering on his behalf.  His name is Dennis and if the Holy Spirit quickens your heart to say a prayer for him, don't hesitate to do so.

Many of you have seen this poem, but for those who haven't, read on.  The author isn't known, but surely the Lord had something to do with writing it.

 WHAT CANCER CANNOT DO

Cancer is so limited. . . It cannot cripple love; It cannot shatter hope; It cannot corrode faith; It cannot eat away peace; It cannot destroy confidence; It cannot kill friendship; It cannot shut out memories; It cannot silence courage; It cannot reduce eternal life; It cannot lessen the Power of the Resurrection.

 Blessings from above,

Ruth Olson

Hi Friends,

This week the Lord has me doing the January/February issue of Gentle Doves.  If you aren't getting it presently, please sign up for it in the "How to Contact Ruth" link on the sidebar to your left.

Another thing going on is some surprises from the Lord by seeing past friends we haven't seen for years.  How fun that is, especially when you least expect seeing someone when in another city, or at a function.  Upon conversing, we get around to my situation and all of them hug and say they will definitely pray.  This adds even more to the bunch of prayers going heavenward   on my behalf.  How can I thank you all.  I also thank you for the many emails and cards sent this way to cheer me.

I'm feeling so good and just feel a slight pain when I walk too much.  Many have mentioned that "your attitude is so good."  That comes from having confidence in our Lord and Savior.  At any time, we can enter the throne room and see the Lord, high and lifted up.  Because of the blood of Jesus, we can be assured that our Father God will not kick us out of His presence.  You are worthy to be in His presence simply and only because of your faith in Jesus, His Son.  If you're reading this and question your faith, let me know and we can talk about how your faith in Christ Jesus can be renewed by the Holy Spirit.

And please remember Matthew 4:24. "News about him (Jesus) spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed, and he healed them."  (Emphasis mine)  He is hearing your cry right now to be healed or your loved one to be set free.  Let me know when this happens, and I'll rejoice with you.

Blessings from above, including that healing,

Ruth Olson <><

I just had to share with you a card I received some weeks ago.  The words are so uplifting and beautiful:

"You are a fighter, a survivor, a woman of faith and strength.  You are a tough opponent for any challenge.  even the big "C" is not match for you because you belong to an even bigger "C". . . CHRIST.  He is with you and many prayers are for you as you fight this battle."

It is a DaySpring card.  And I so thank the thoughtful couple who sent it to me.

I want all of you suffering now to reread this above.  It's for you as well as for me.  You can do this with the strength of Jesus.  He will help you through your trials.  He is there for you.  Lift up your head and see Him work on your behalf.

Thanks to the young woman who noticed me at the grocery store today.  She asked if I was Ruth Olson and then told me she was praying for me at her church's prayer group.  Does it get any better than that?  This conversation confirms the above verse, "many prayers are for you as you fight this battle."

There are people out there who are praying for YOU too.  You may not know them, but the Holy Spirit has put you on their hearts as you struggle through a dark valley.  Thank the Lord God for them; their prayers are lifting up our arms as we cry out to God for healing, help, restoration, deliverance and blessings.  Receive it all, for the Lord died for you.

These gifts are all yours to have and to walk in, living in His righteousness for His name sake.

Until next time,

Ruth Olson <><

Hi again,

Thank you for all your well-taken advice regarding insomnia.  I think I have tried them all.  But, I have good news!  Last night from 2-4 a.m. I was awake and when I finally got sleepy enough to go to bed, after 5 minutes I realized what was causing my sleepless nights in Red Wing.

I was in bed for about 5 minutes or so and I caught on I was having a hot flash and off flew the covers.  Then like a light bulb went off on top of my head, and I saw what was happening.  I have so many hot flashes during the night hours that cause me to take off covers, put them back on, take them off again, put them back on again etc.  That is what is keeping me from falling deep into sleep.

Take heed: your insomnia may be caused from something very similar--something physical, not spiritual; so don't feel guilty that you aren't doing something the Lord is telling you to do.  Ask Him to point out something on the physical realm you may be doing or taking.  He'll point it out to you.  I think that I was so bent on something wrong in the spiritual realm, that my ears were closed to the physical.

My hot flashes happened to be a side effect of the medication I'm on for  cancer.  My doctor tells me that soon they should subside, so please join in prayer with me that these pesky things will soon be a thing of the past.

Other than that, I am doing so well.  I know it's from all the prayers that the angels gather up across the nations on my behalf and fly them to heaven where they smell like beautiful incense to the Lord God Almighty.  (Psalm 141:2; Revelation 8:3,4.)

Don't despair, friends, you who are going through trials and illness.  Stand fast and you'll see the salvation (healing, sanctification, deliverance) of the Lord.

Blessings from above,

Ruth Olson <><

Dear Friends,

Thank you so much for your prayers regarding my pain.  I haven't had pain for two days now.  It's wonderful.  God loves us to pray for each other.  Proverbs 15:8 reads, "The Lord detests the sacrifice of the wicked, but the prayer of the upright pleases him."

If I can pray for your needs, please let me know.

Now that we're in a praying mood.  Please pray against my insomnia.  I've had it most of my adult life, and interestingly enough, while I had my radiation treatments for five days in a row, I slept each night as a baby.  But now I'm back on periodic sleeping pills which don't seem to do the trick, no matter when in the night I take one.   I know many of you can't settle down at night either.

Moses when blessing the tribes before his death, about Benjamin he said, "Let the beloved of the Lord rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the Lord loves rests between his shoulders."  (See Deuteronomy 33: 12.)

Want to try it with me tonight?  Let's rest between the Lord's shoulders.  How secure can one be?  That certainly applies to each of us.  Jesus loves us and He shields us all day long.  Now it's time to rest.

Have a peaceful sleep,

Ruth Olson <><

10/14/09

 Dear Friends,

First off today, I want to wish our son, Jeff, a very Happy Birthday!  May the Lord give many more years of good health and a heart full of love and grace to carry you through many more fulfilling years in Jesus.  We love you.

Next, the subject today I guess is pain.  It's starting again in the original area of my diagnosis--the right groin--and it isn't pleasant.  So back on pain pills periodically.  I'm letting them do their thing.

I think I may be overdoing it as the only thing that reminds me I am ill, is my cane and pain.  Pain gets our attention immediately.  It shows us there is something not right.  So I am resting, although I do have some things to do today.  Isn't that always the case?  We will put off rest to get something done.

The Lord spoke to my heart last night telling me to read Hebrews 3.  I asked if I heard him correctly.  No response.  Once the Lord tells you something, don't ask like you didn't hear Him.  I read the chapter and saw what He wanted me to concentrate on.  The Children of Israel didn't enter "the rest" provided for them, that of simply believing on the Lord.  I got the picture.

That's what God's Word does for you.  It "judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart."  (Hebrews 4:12)  And another thing I realized reading Chapter 3 is that if that particular chapter was the only chapter I had access to, it would show me this: sin, unfaithfulness, disobedience, and the end result without Jesus--death.

I pray today for you that the Holy Spirit will speak to your heart regarding His Holy Word and that you reap many blessings from your reading it on a daily basis.  Let Him guide you.  It's more fun that way.

Have a wonderful, fulfilling day in the Lord,

Ruth Olson <><

 10/9/09

Hi again,

Something happened this a.m. that I want to share with you.  If it doesn't affect you directly, it may just involved a loved one of yours.

I am a type 2 diabetic.  I have been feeling so good physically lately so when I got up to eat breakfast I was so worn out after a good night's sleep and thought it was strange.  I took my blood sugar and it was high.  It still didn't register with me, so I ate (along taking my diabetic medication) and following told Jerry that I just had to sit down and rest.  I wasn't feeling too well and tried to understand what was going on.  So I decided to take my blood sugar again.  This time it was very elevated.  I got up and took a short walk with my cane which brought it down shortly afterwards.

The reason I'm telling you this is because often when we have a disease such as cancer, we forget what else our body is struggling with.  So much energy goes toward getting well in this one certain area that our other health concerns often take a back burner.

I want to give you some symptoms of high blood sugar and low blood sugar so you can be on a lookout if not for yourself, for others in your family.  (The following is from my files and the source is unknown, unfortunately.)

When blood sugar is too high.  Too much glucose in your blood is called hyperglycemia or high blood sugar.  It can be caused by eating too much food, especially carbohydrates, by not being active, or by not taking your medication.  It can also be caused by sickness or stress.

Symptoms you may have. High blood sugar may cause no symptoms.  If you do have symptoms, they may include:

Increased thirst; a need to urinate more often, feeling tired, blurry vision, unexplained weight loss, itchy, dry skin, infections, wounds or skin infections that don't heal.  When you have symptoms check your blood sugar.  If it is higher than target range, take these steps:

1.  Drink sugar free, caffeine-free liquids such as water, diet soda, or herbal tea.  2.  If your blood sugar is under 240, physical activity, such as a brisk walk, may help bring it down.  If your blood sugar is over 240, do not exercise.  3.  If you take insulin, follow your health care provider's guidelines for taking extra insulin.  4.  Check your blood sugar every 2 to 4 hours, as directed by your health care team.

When blood sugar is too low.  Too little glucose in your blood is called hypoglycemia or low blood sugar.  Diabetes itself doesn't cause low blood sugar.  But some of the treatments for diabetes, such as  pills or insulin, may put you at risk for it.  Low blood sugar may occur if you take too much medication, skip or delay a meal, or are more active than usual.  Always treat low blood sugar right away.

Symptoms you may have with low blood sugar:

Get to know your own symptoms so you can tell when you have low blood sugar.  Symptoms may include: Sweating or cold, clammy skin; Shakiness or dizziness (this are my symptoms); a hard, fast heartbeat; feelings of hunger (this too), headache and confusion or irritability.

When you have symptoms:  check your blood sugar to see if it's below target range.  If you can't check it, treat the low anyway.  To treat a low, take these steps: 1. Eat or drink 15 grams of fast-acting sugar, such as 3 to 4 glucose tablets,4 oz. fruit juice or regular (non-diet) soda, 8 oz. fat-free milk, or 1 tbsp. of sugar.  Don't take more than this, or your blood sugar may go too high.  2. Wait 15 minutes.  Then recheck your blood sugar if you can.  3.  If your blood sugar is still too low, repeat steps 1. and 2. If you aren't better after that, get medical help.  4.  Once your blood sugar returns to target range, eat.  If your next meal is less than  1 hour away, eat that meal now.  If it's more than 1 hour, eat a snack, such as half a sandwich, or crackers and cheese.

Diabetes is not altogether noticeable to the average person, even at times to the person with diabetes, until something goes wrong and it can happen quickly.  Learning the above can greatly help you understand what is happening at the moment if you or your loved ones are feeling unusual.

Thanks for listening.  It just may help you or someone you love someday.

Hi everyone, and welcome newcomers reading my health update,

If you have been keeping up with this update, you'll see where I have been very positive.  I do want to quote something from my latest book, "My Gift to You--Encouragement During a Cancer Crisis,"  that shows how one's attitude can quickly change.

"When a person is diagnosed with cancer, or any other crisis, thoughts become mangled and anxiety can suddenly come upon you."  Pg. 24.

This happened to me the other day when suddenly after reading a clip on metastatic breast cancer on the Internet, I plummeted and fought to regain my faith in the promises of God Almighty instead of listening to the Enemy, Satan.  Because my husband wasn't around, I called my friend, Hannelore, to ask her and her husband to pray for me to regain my shaken foundation in the Lord and to rely completely on Him.

Friends, this can happen no matter what situation you are in.  Our Enemy can rush in and whisper thoughts of despair and failure.  When this happens, reach out to someone who can stand with you and come against these thoughts that are not of the Lord.  Just as surely as you have become discouraged, you can climb up that ladder of joy, once again.  If you ever want someone to pray with you, don't hesitate to contact me.  I check my mail often and I will be there for you.  But I do encourage you to reach out to someone you can trust to hang on to you during these times, directing you to God's never-failing Word.

Please consider ordering my book as mentioned above.  I have included many Bible verses for you to meditate on during such times, and to possibly memorize, placing them deep within your heart.  "Your words have I hidden in my heart, that I may not sin against you."  Psalm 119:11.

God bless and keep you safe in His loving arms,

Dear Friends,

I wanted to thank you for your many prayers and share some with you.  People are calling, writing and sending emails that I never would have dreamed would have the time to respond of my news by connecting with me.  The Holy Spirit through a friend is certainly impressing on me that when one person suffers in the Body of Believers, all suffer.

Here are some of the emails I've received:

"I just finished placing a gentle hand on my computer screen right over your name, just to somehow connect with you and pray that the LORD speak His Words of healing and comfort over you, and that HE would have His Word completed in your life, and that none other would have dominion!  We bow before our living, loving faithful God,Creator of all of us. . .Savior of our souls. . .giving Him glory for who He is, what He has done and is doing among us!"

Love, Jan

"You are remembered in prayer beloved."  Tiffany Ann

"May you climb up into Father's lap and received your strength from Him.

Shoni

"Lord, I know You are providing for Your servant Ruth.  May her discomfort be minimal and her heart be filled with Your joy and peace as she puts her full trust in You.  May the treatment she is receiving be completely effective in removing cancer from her body Lord.  We are so blessed to know Who You are, to know we can trust Your heart to do what is best for us!  May we all rest comfortable in Your hand Lord.  Thank You for loving us.!"
 Jeanne

Please know that all the prayers written or said to the Lord on my behalf is being kept by the Lord God Almighty Himself.  (See Revelation 5:8.)

I'm quickly getting my strength back.  It is feeling good.

Greetings Friends,

Thank you for all your prayers.  We are seeing results.  I was at my doctor today here in Red Wing and she was so happy that I have recovered so quickly from the time of discovery of the bone cancer to the end of treatment of same.  She said that it "may be a sign."  She can't get over that I'm almost free of taking pain medications and reminded me that I certainly can take them.  However, I informed her that I just don't have the pain and maybe take 1/2 a pain pill daily if not every other day.  She just couldn't get over that.  Again, it's the prayers the Lord is hearing from all of you and He is answering.  All glory to His name.

She used the word "remission" for the first time in my cancer history saying that because I have regained my health so quickly, I may just be able to remain in remission for some 10 years, living a normal life.  (Although, she added, that this is very unusual.)  This has always been my focus as a word from the Lord from the very beginning, and hearing the doctor say this was certainly a confirmation from Him.  There was a woman I knew with bone cancer and she lived with it for many years.  I believe the Lord kept bringing her to mind from the moment we got the diagnosis of the bone cancer attacking me.  Over the weeks, the Lord quieted my fears down by remembering her and how long she lived.

I want to tell you about another thing that I truly believe has helped me with all of this.  Jeff Alpers sent me a book on Communion during this time by Joseph Prince.  First he sent me a forward of a devotion Pastor Prince wrote about getting healthier and stronger each day using Acts 2:46. showing how the Christians would meet daily and break bread

He wrote, "The thing about taking the Holy Communion daily is this: If you are sick, you can be made well on a gradual basis.  This means that you get healthier and stronger from day to day--first thirty fold, then sixty fold, then a hundredfold!"

He goes on, "You see, while you can receive healing through the prayer of faith (Mark 11:24), it sometimes puts pressure on you because it requires you to believe that you receive it all--complete healing--the moment you pray.  There is nothing wrong with the prayer of faith, but you may find yourself saying,'I must believe I receive it all, now!  I must believe I have it all, now!'"

Now I took daily communion when I had breast cancer throughout my treatment, but I hadn't thought of it this time until Jeff sent this forward.  I began immediately taking it daily.  Then just last night, the Lord impressed on me to reread this devotion by Pastor Prince.  What stood out are these words,

"There are cases I know of in our church, in my family and in my own life, where the manifestation of healing is immediate and complete.  If it happens that way, praise God!  But if not, don't worry.  The more you partake, the better you will become."

"I know of people who take the Holy Communion three times a day, just like they would medicine!  Why not?  My friend, if you are very sick and you are diligently taking your medications three times a day, why not give the Lord's Supper the same amount of attention?  Why not boost your recovery rate?  And the next time you eat the bread and drink the cup, you may just find your disease totally gone!"        -Joseph Prince (c) Copyright 2006.  All rights reserved.  Article, August 26, 2009.

I have started doing just that.  When my husband is around he prays over me, when he isn't here, I have a wonderful time with the Lord in faith believing that He is honoring my prayer of healing.  I encourage you to ask the Lord if this is for you.  Jesus shed His blood for our sins and He took the stripes for our healing.  He loves you more than you can ever realize and does not want you sick.  He's with you every step of your journey, watching over you and healing you inside and out.  His angels are covering you and Jesus Himself holds you in the palm of His hand.

I will have bone scans every three months along with blood work.  Please continue to pray as led by the Holy Spirit.  I am forever grateful to the Lord for putting you each in my life.

Sincerely,

Ruth Olson <><

Dear Friends,

Thank you for being patient with me.  With the last two treatments I have been wiped out and had to go to bed during the daytime to rest and regain my strength.

Today I had my last radiation treatment.   Yesterday I talked with my doctor.  When I asked the question if the cancer was gone now in my pelvis and tip of my right hip, she answered yes, but there is still cancer present that has been missed by the radiation.  So as a result, every three months here in Red Wing, I will be having a bone density test to make sure it remains negative for cancer, or if it appears that we will be able to treat it.  As far as my left humerus is concerned, for now they will carefully watch it to see what it does.

I will see my oncologist here in Red Wing next Monday and she'll take over with future treatment.

I am very thankful for many who have prayed for my healing.  I am happy with the report.  The Lord answered the prayer that the biopsy showed the cancer did originate from the breast cancer, also that in this area we are not dealing with a different cancer as with the left arm.

If you are so led to continue to pray, here are some areas to emphasize in prayer:

Pray the cancer will not spread to the liver, lungs, brain.  If it doesn't spread, the doctor feels that I will have a good life of many years to come.

Pray that the holes the cancer caused in the pelvis will be restore with good bone tissue.  In the meantime, I am getting an IV monthly which will slowly help this process along.  I have to be careful that I do not fall and break my pelvis because if I would, the doctor said I'd be on bed rest until it healed, no surgery would be done.  So I am being very careful and walk with a cane everywhere.  Pray for protection surrounding me if you are led by the Holy Spirit.

Pray that the cancer in the humerus will not spread, in fact that it will go away completely with the touch of the Lord's healing power.

I have some wonderful news for you who have been praying for a printer for us since our printer retired here in Red Wing.  I just now got the estimate and it came up much cheaper than the previous cost.  It is a real deal and only the Lord could have done it for us!  All glory to our Lord whose ministry this is in the first place.

God bless you all and I will continue to update this page as the Lord leads.  Remember to send us your prayer requests and also orders for my new book, "My Gift to You--Encouragement During a Cancer Crisis."  It will be a great gift to give for your friends who are going through any type of crisis, especially cancer.  I also want to remind you that Hannelore and I are free to come and speak/minister to your group now that I am feeling better.  I would love to see the friends we have met over the years again, and to meet new ones.

Blessings from above,

Hi Friends,

A pastor in Africa sent me a note of healing and he gave a Bible passage, actually for someone else I asked him to pray for, but it so applies to me and to you, the reader.  "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."

It's from 1 Peter 5:7.  Keep your eyes on Jesus.  We are to humble ourselves under God's mighty hand, that He may lift us up in due time.  (See 1 Peter 5:6.)  This action of humility will remind us that He is our Lord and King.  He will take care of each of us no matter what the problem is.  He is the One who will lift us up to look squarely in His beautiful eyes, giving us reassurance and blessing us with answers to questions we just don't understand.

I so "feel" your prayers for me.  Thank you so much.  I have only 2 more radiation treatments left.  Pray that all cancer is gone in my pelvis and hip area following the treatments.  And pray that the other type of cancer in my left humerus will be gone with the Lord's touch of healing.

Sincerely in our Living Lord,

Ruth Olson <><

Hi everyone,

Thank you for all your concern, phone calls and emails tonight.  I'm done with the bone biopsy and so happy I am, as there were some difficulties, but the Lord was with me through and through and now I'm here to tell about it.  The details aren't important, but the results may be and we will see my oncologist on Monday after the 3rd radiation treatment.

I'm so tired now and will get some sleep as I am to return tomorrow for a 6:45 a.m. radiation treatment.  That's early, but I'm so happy I don't have to drive far like some of the people we've talked with at Mayo.

More as soon as I feel up to it.

Sincerely in the Lord Jesus,

Ruth Olson

Dear Friends,

Please keep me on your prayer lists.  I wasn't able to have the bone biopsy today.  I was all ready to be "rolled in" but the doctor said that because I was on Coumadin, I would possibly bleed.  Both my oncologist and I should have know that but neither of us even thought about it.  So after she apologized, she told me a little more about my condition.

I have bone cancer in the entire right side of my pelvis from front to "where I sit", and on the tip of the right hip bone.  The cancer in my left arm is another type of cancer and since there is no pain with it, they will carefully watch it over time and see what it does.

So next Wednesday, the 23rd, I'll be having the bone biopsy and my first radiation treatment.

I was telling my husband the other day that the Lord gave me a vision what all your prayers look like.  When one turns over a homemade piece of a woven blanket etc., you see the underside all woven together.  This is how I see your prayers--all intertwined.  All different colors tightly held together by each other and once turned over, it's a beautiful piece of material made to cover someone.  Your prayers are doing that for me.  Covering me from head to toe.  Thank you again for uplifting me to the Lord.  I'm hearing from people all over the country.

Until the next update,

Ruth Olson <><

Here I am again,

I just got the test results from yesterday's tests at Mayo Clinic.  I have cancer in the pelvis area and cancer in the rt. hip (instead of the expected cancer in rt. femur).  The cancer in the left arm is different in that I won't have to worry about fracturing the arm if I fall.  The doctor is unsure now how to treat that particular cancer and will be asking an Orthopedic doctor regarding this.

I will have to have a bone biopsy scheduled for tomorrow at 8:45 a.m. So if you read this in time, you may want to send a prayer heavenward on my behalf.  At 2:p.m. tomorrow we will see my oncologist answering any questions I may have and scheduling me for the radiation treatments. As it looks now, I will be having 5 treatments of radiation daily beginning next week the 21-25th.

I remain joyful in the Lord reminding my soul to "shape up" by singing the song, "The Joy of the Lord is my Strength."   I am happy about all of this: the cancer has not spread and the radiation will hinder its growth and will kill the pain.  All glory to our Heavenly Healer, Christ Jesus.

Please feel free to contact me with any prayer requests of your own.  Job was made "prosperous again" after praying for his friends.   See Job 42:10.

Hi to all of you faithful friends,

Thank you for your visits, your emails, cards, phone calls and prayers that go along with them all.  While at fellowship one Sunday, someone passed me a note from a dear friend who doesn't have a computer to catch up on my updates, and while talking with this couple from our church, they discovered that they both knew me, so she wrote a note to pass along to me.

"God's still in control no matter what.  Love you Ruth."

Now isn't that thoughtful (and true!).  You all are being moved by the Holy Spirit who is using you in so many different ways to encourage me.   Thank you for being obedient to His promptings.

The latest news is from this past Friday's visit with yet another oncologist at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, who wants to do two more tests.  So tomorrow, Tuesday, the 15th of September, we'll see if the bone cancer has spread anywhere else.  If she is satisfied, then she will give one treatment only of radiation to my pelvis.  (These dates have been changed as noted above.  Thursday the 17th I will find out what the results of tomorrow's tests will be.)

If she discovers more cancer hidden somewhere, she will do treatments of radiation of 5 days each for 2 weeks.  If there is some question yet after the test's results then a bone marrow biopsy will be done on the same day to make sure it isn't this type of cancer.  The two oncologists (here at Red Wing and this new one) agree 99.9% that metastasis of the breast cancer is the type I have.  But this latest doctor may feel the biopsy is needed to be 100% sure.  If that is the case, I accept it as God's will that it be done.

Take your pick as to what to pray for .  My husband and I are praying for a complete miracle that she finds all cancer gone, or if that isn't the case, that she finds it hasn't spread, and if that's not the case, that she decides against doing the biopsy but even so, at least that I won't have pain with it.

So the Lord has His pick.  Of course, this is in jest as we are willing to follow Him anywhere, but with all the praying going on, we expect something to happen next Thursday.  And I have to believe that you all agree with us.  Your praying delights the Lord.

". . .the prayer of the upright pleases him."  Proverbs 15:8

I am quite aware that you who are praying are going out of your regular schedule to do so as you have needs also.  If you would like Hannelore and me to place your on our prayer list, please contact me as to what to pray for and we will do just that.

Love in our healing Lord Jesus,

Ruth Olson <><

 Dear Friends,

I guess it's time I update as I'm getting mail asking me what is going on.    Well, right now, not much.  On Tuesday of this week I plan on finding out when my radiation will be scheduled on the pelvis area.  Other than that, I continue on pain pills and take it easy walking about as it hurts when I put weight on my right leg.  As I mention before, I have cancer now also in my right femur and my left humerus, although I have no pain in either place.  I thank the Lord for all of this, as I'm learning to lean on Him more and more.

Most of all, I thank the Lord for all of you.  I am daily receiving emails, notes in the mail, and greetings with words of healing from those I meet on the street and through phone calls.

I just received an email from the Gospel Outreach Ministries International team of Hillsboro, MO with Sam Paul Gokanakonda as head. They have an outreach in India and sent me pictures of the elderly widows who are specially praying for me around the clock chain prayer meetings in several locations.  I am hoping that these will be posted on "Doves Album" link here on the website.  These pictures of the women and children praying brought me to tears.

Every prayer keeps knocking on the gates of heaven in the Name of the Lord Jesus.  I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate them all.  I have always said that when a person is ill, they are on the front battle line.  It's not until others come to relieve them in prayer that they can jump into the fox holes to regain their strength.  Thank you for digging that fox hole for me with your many prayers.

One pastor wrote and encouraged me to keep climbing "that ladder of joy!"  I intend to and when reminded by the Holy Spirit, I start singing, "The joy of the Lord is my strength."

Thank you, dear friends,

Ruth Olson <><

Dear Friends,

I'm receiving so much encouragement from all over the world.  Friends in Switzerland, a dear Pastor and his wife in Africa, prayers from the upper New York area, from Texas, notes and emails spanning the entire U. S.  Thank you so much.

Each one seems to be praying for something different than the other one which is of the Holy Spirit I believe.  As a body of believers each prayer covers me completely.  Here are some examples:  One person is praying against any fear that may come on me; another is praying against the side effects of the drugs I'm taking; another, coming against the Enemy; many are praying for strength, physical, mental and spiritual, peace of mind and heart; one saint is praying "for my journey"; and yet another for the Lord to use this for His purpose and His glory.  Her beautiful prayer follows:

"Lord, my precious sister, Ruth, is in Your hands and I pray that You will miraculously heal her of all traces of cancer and please relieve all her pain.  May she and Jerry experience Your peace and Your blessing as they put their complete trust in You Lord!  May the entire family be drawn very close to You and feel Your presence strengthening them and encouraging them.  May the tests show that the cancer is treatable and can be stopped.  You are awesome Lord and You are all we need in times of difficulty.  Help us to keep both feet on the Rock so our footing is sure.  Thank you, Lord."

(Please keep this friend in your prayers also as her daughter has had cancer for years. and she know of what she speaks.)

Another encouragement came from a dear friend forwarding a devotion by Pastor Joseph Prince on taking communion at home when ill.  It reminded me of when I took daily communion at home when I had breast cancer.  I feel the Holy Spirit is telling me to once again take it in Jesus' name.  So I have begun doing just that.  (You can find the prayer on the "Doves Prayers" link.)

I am having the most pain in the morning hours up until mid afternoon when the pain pills "kick in."  But nevertheless, the Lord remains faithful in comforting me and holding me close.  I pray for all of you on our present prayer list who are suffering with this disease.  May God give you the same comfort as you reach out to Him in prayer and hope.

Dear Friends,

So much has been happening so quickly.  Since writing last, we have found out that I have cancer also in the right femur and the left humerus besides the pelvis area.  I am now on a stronger pain mediation and started my anti-cancer medication today, whereupon I got very sick.  However, I am determined to be led by the Lord to help me adapt to this medication.  Your prayers are certainly helping.  Thank you.

My husband asked me the other day how I was feeling.  I told him that I'm on the ladder of joy, and asked him where he was.  He replied, "I'm right behind you pushing you onward."  I shared this with my sister and she replied that she was at the bottom of the ladder holding it steady (with her prayers).  This all comes from Nehemiah 8:10b: "Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength."  So I have called it my "joy ladder."

There's something more to this vision the Lord gave me about the ladder.  I do not care at all of climbing up ladders.  If I don't have to, I won't do it.  The Lord showed me that the ladder is cancer, and that He is right ahead of me leading the way to victory going upward; Jerry is watching so I don't fall or get discouraged, and my sister represents all of you praying so faithfully for my healing, supporting me in this manner. Thank you so much.

I want to share a comment from a friend of a friend of mine.  She writes, "The more I pray the more His presence and power surround me, lifting me up and dissolving my worries and fears.  I can cope with whatever comes along because I know I am shored up and strengthened with what He has promised me.  I have become a recipient of His bountiful grace."

How faith building is that!  Thank you, friend.

Blessings from above,

Ruth Olson <><

Dear friends,

Some of you have been notified of my health situation already, but I'll start with the beginning for those who aren't aware as of yet.

I am  just 2 months shy of being breast cancer free for 5 years and was so looking forward to celebrating that fact.  However, the Lord has different plans, taking me down a familiar road, this time with cancer in my pelvis area.  My husband and I just found out Monday, August 17.

We will know more this coming Monday, the 24th when we see my oncologist once again to let us know what the test results are and what plan of action we will be taking.  In the meantime, I will be having monthly infusions of Zometa, a drug that strengthens the bones, and also am walking with a cane to keep me from falling and fracturing any bones.

I believe that almost everyone knows someone who has had cancer, or who is going through it now.  At your requests, we pray for many of your friends and relatives every Monday.  Please consider purchasing my latest book, My Gift to You, Encouragement During A Cancer Crisis by contacting me at: Ruth Olson, 30090 Hay Crk. Trl., Red Wing, MN 55066.  This book with the power of the Holy Spirit will lift your loved one's spirit and give him/her hope.

Please keep me in prayer also as led by the Holy Spirit.

Blessings from above,

 Ruth Olson
